Businiess name:  The Melting Pot

Review content:
I did not go to a Fondue restaurant for years because someone told me they take the leftover fondue and throw it back into the pot. Needless to say, I did not want dipping sauce that many people had dipped into. I know....kind of silly of me to believe something so ignorant. But I finally got up the courage and decided to try it - out of curiousity mainly. We took our kids (11 year old girl, 17 year old boy) but little did we know that this would turn into an adventure. We went to the Melting Pot in Baton Rouge, Louisiana which is conveniently located off College Drive. We went around 7:30 and got a parking lot right across from the door - that has never happened before. We were greeted with a beautiful smile - the hostess made all of us feel welcome. Now before I go any further - please don't laugh at me but my husband and I just expected little fondue pots that they bring to you - you know - something a little cheesy. Just the opposite - this place had class. Beautiful paintings, a relaxed and romantic atmosphere. The tables all have a burner in the middle. This place is far from cheesy. Our waiter came and explained everything and handed us a menu. We were so overwhelmed by the selection. There are sauces to select, entrees, salads, etc. We decided on the big night out which included appetizer, salad, entree and dessert for $65 - This is normally for 2 people but our kids are light, picky eaters and we weren't sure how well they would like this - they are not usually up for new things. We were amazed when the waiter made the sauce at a table - he brings all the ingredients and pours it in the pot at your table. Right down to the meat on the entree - everything brought to you is raw - you put your steak, lobster, shrimp, etc. into your pot and let it cook - this only takes a couple of minutes for each piece. It's very interesting. The food - gives your taste buds a wonderful sensation. There are many different flavors, textures, it is really an adventure. For "The Big Night Out" - you will be there at least 2 hours. Saving the best for last - DESSERT - and all I can say is OH MY GOD - I THOUGHT I DIED AND WAS IN HEAVEN. The cheesecake literally melted in my mouth. The strawberries and chocolate were decadent. They bring a plate with a variety of small items to dip into the sauce. In the end - we all enjoyed it - we will definitely be back. The staff were wonderful. The restaurant was clean. The food - breathtaking. Definitely something everyone can enjoy. The price is a little high but it is definitely worth it.
