Our water heater went out over the weekend. I didn't even know until I turned on the shower. The water started getting warm so I got in assuming it would get hot. It didn't. That was the worst shower ever! I then tried lighting the water heater, but it wouldn't stay lit. I went online and researched it and thought it might be the thermocouple. I called my landlord and she said she'd send someone right over. Her "handyman" came over and he did the exact same thing that I did and said I needed to find someone else to fix it. What a wasted trip. I called my landlord back and she said that she didn't have a regular plumber and that she was just a lady that owned a house and not a landlord and if I knew a good one I could call him and she would pay him. What!? Okay, let's be sexist here and say since I'm a man I must know plumbers and just have one on my Rolodex. Sorry, I don't. I found these guys, Newton Plumbing, on the internet. I told them the problem and they said it might be the thermocouple. I didn't mention that because I wanted to see if they were reputable. So far so good. They said they would call and come over first thing in the morning (it was Saturday night already). I thought that was fine since I already had my cold shower for the day! They called early Sunday morning (a little too early for a Sunday morning) and came about an hour after that. He replaced the thermocouple in about 30 minutes and the thing fired right up. I don't know how much it was. My landlord (or just a little lady with a house, but not a landlord!) came and paid the guy. She was happy though and said she'd use them in the future.
