Here's a letter I sent to Medicus:
I was visiting my family in Poughkeepsie, and one night I started experiencing terrible pains in my chest and neck. I was afraid to go to the emergency room because I have a very high deductible on my health insurance, so I went to Medicus. When I arrived, it was a half hour before your closing time.
When the nurse at the desk (unfortunately I can't remember her name) asked how long I had been experiencing the pain, I replied that it had been about two hours. The nurse suddenly turned on me and barked (and I quote), "So you decided to come in a half hour before closing for shits and giggles?" I told her, "Look at me...does it look like I'm having fun?" She continued to berate me for a couple of minutes before saying, "I'm the only medical person on tonight, so you'll have to see me." I burst into tears and left -- there was no way I wanted to be treated by this horrible woman.
I was up all night in excruciating pain, and the next day I drove back to New Hampshire to see my doctor, where I found out that I had been suffering massive panic attacks for the last 18 hours. If your nurse had been kind and professional, instead of angry and cruel, I could have gotten some short-term medication to stop the attacks.
I can't believe any medical business would hire a nurse who treats ill people this way. My experience was totally unacceptable, and I've made sure to tell my friends and family in New York to avoid Medicus if they value their health. I hope you can figure out who the nurse was, though I've given you sketchy details -- I think she needs to find a new career.
