Carnies steal from community 10/13/2006

On the Monday nite that was school kids nite for free admission & $10 armbands for the rides, a ticket taker was only letting kids have $10 off ( $15 for a ticket now! ), even after the ticket takers were told the correct way for the coupon to be used! I went and had a conversation w/ someone who called himself Bones ( Bonz? ) at the season pass area on Tues. afternoon, told me he was a manager, and spent more than 10 minutes trying to tell him that if there was a thief in their mists, that my grandson ( Zane Finley ) was not allowed to buy a armband at the right price. He finally quit saying that the carnival did not steal money from my grandson if he didn't buy a armband. I told him that I was trying to tell him of someone in his employment was pocketing money, & all he could do was tell me of all kinds of misunderstanding on the carnivals end about the coupon in question. He finally asked me what would make this right, I said I would like my grandson to have a nite on the rides like all the other kids. I thanked him for his time as he told me to have my grandson check in with him when he comes back to the fair & he would hook hin up with an armband. This Bones ( sp. ) charater then told my grandson, when he had paid to return to the fair so he could enjoy the Midway, that he had not told me any such thing, he would maybe hook him up w/ a $10 armband, which my grandson had spent for admission ( since this was not the nite the coupon was good for admission ), so he did not have $10 left. He also made comments about me breaking my leg on 1 of their rides, which happenned in 96', & that they ( Crabtree amusements ) did not need or want any of his family at their Midway! Well I beg to differ! We are the people that make up the community & we are the people that make up a majority of the ones who uses your complex. I am very insulted by the events at this years ( 2006' ) Midway that effected my family. Your complex is a part of WACO! Crabtree amusements is NOT! It is sad that for all the money spent by our community to upgrade the fairgrounds & buildings over the last 10 years, we still have the same ole carnies working our fair. Over half the rides could stand a facelift, & I know they brought a few new rides this year, only to allow 1 of our community to get hurt on one of them due to the attention payed to the customers safety by the carnie operators. ( seat bar not fastened properly). I did not let my broken leg effect the attendance of my family to the fair each year, but not buying passes this year might be a sign for the future fairs we have. You, as a local business, could not even get me in touch w/ Crabtree amusements when I 1st called about this soituation. So in ending, You have failed one of your patrons, & may have started a campain to get people to go to the STATE FAIR instead of our very own fair. Yours to ponder! This is from one very disappointed local (used to go ) patron. Charles Brown - Waco, Tx. more
