I'm very fond of Mekong, located on West Broad Street about 100 yards east of Horsepen. It's located in an old strip mall, occupying the space that used to be a disco in the '70s (and where Gregg Allman & Cher were spotted after an Allman Bros. concert at the Coliseum...but that's another time).
Mekong scores highly for its utterly fresh ingredients, its helpful staff, and its amazing (for a VN restaurant) beer selection. Lots of Belgian ales available.
The food really is delectable. I've been there at least a half dozen times, and I've never had a complaint. Seriously.
