Traditional Preschool Education in a Caring Enviroment 8/27/2005

My introduction to this school came when I was seeking 4-7 year old children to participate in a research study I was conducting for graduate school. The school is located in its own moden facility next to Grace Lutheran Church (irreverently refered to as "the dorito church" by some of my undergrad helpers) in downtown State College. The director of the school was very aimiable and open to having people visit the school and check out their programs. They offer part-time and full-time educational programs as well as parttime programs for younger children. They also offer tuition assistance for those with economic need. The buildings/classrooms were bright and well appointed. The staff was kind and experienced and the children were eager and well behaved. The curriculum at this school is class oriented, with children engaging in classbased activities (as opposed to each child doing their own thing , like montessori). I'd imagine a school like this prepares children well for a transition to a traditional post-primary school. more
