I started eating here in 1945. Yes, sixty years ago.
I had my 13th birthday party here in 1956. It was the first place my girlfriends and I went out to eat without our parents. This is where my husband took me out to dinner for the first time. My children's first dining experience was at Felix. All four of my grand children have dined there. Next month five of my old friends and I are getting together for the first time in 45 years. Our reunion will be at Felix. We will start with the "chili con queso". There is nowhere else that makes it like they do. Their hot sauce is not like any other. When we were living in North Carolina, we missed the hot sauce so much that my mother and Mrs. Tejarenia (Felix's wife) tried to ship some to us, the container broke. She then gave my mother the dry ingredients and the recipe so I could make it myself. The cheese enchiladas are like no other. We still have dinner there about once a month. Some of the same waiters are still there from the 1950 and 1960's. Felix food stands alone there is no other like it.
