Disrespectful and demanding. 7/30/2009

I was looking for a new vet since the last vet gave both of my Pugs (who are sisters) a medicine that I was told was safe for them. It was not; one of them had a seizure after taking it the 4th time. I went to Kenwood on reviews from a Pug message board. My first visit the vet said he would still give the medicine to the other Pug who did not have a seizure from it. It made me feel very uncomfortable that he did not respect my wishes against this medicine and that he did not understand that they are sisters and because it took one of them a few times to react, it may do the same for the other. My second visit was to have their nails trimmed. I did not see a vet. One of the Pugs has not walked the same since - it seems like they hurt her hips. My third visit was concerning her paw that seemed to be infected. I was seeing a different vet. He pressed the glass slide to her paw and after awhile it shattered. I wondered why he wouldn't use a cotton swab and place that on the slide but I said nothing. After breaking the glass on her paw he said he didn't know his own strength and as I held her he asked for me to put her back on the table. I was waiting for him to wipe the glass debris off of the table and I ended up doing it myself. He then asked if he could take her back to get her paw looked at because he couldn't do it there. I didn't feel like I could say no so I said yes... He then said it was infected and prescribed Keflex. After giving her this medicine she started drooling and became lethargic. I researched the medicine and it is not safe for dogs. I discontinued the medicine and her paw healed by itself. I wish I would have listened to my gut the first time, but I hope this helps someone else. more
