Anyone who has been up to Ithaca knows that there aren't too many "chain stores." One can usually get by, but if you need formal wear and are in a bind, Benjamin Peters is one of the few stores you can go to. You could travel to the Carousel Mall in Syracuse, but it is 50 minutes away by car and out of many students' reach.
Benjamin Peters is located in the commons. It has a nice selection of suits, ties, and dress shirts. The store is on the small side (i.e. not like the men's department at a department store), but the service is very friendly and the sales people know their stuff. The things they sell are of good quality although you will definitely pay for this. That would be the one complaint I have about the store: its prices are a bit on the expensive side.
However, like I said, if you need formal wear quickly, I would recommend this over the other local options such as The Bon Ton. Overall, it has a good selection, quality, and service.
