years ago parade magazine actually employed a pair of HONEST restaurant reviewers, the sterns, that struck terror for years into southern new england bistros.
the sterns were were reviewers who had once written of a trendy, upper class establishment in middletown;"the food is excrible...". the business closed a month or two later.
no payola for those two.they were clean! the sterns happened to stop at patty's pantry one day and decided to write a review of all things, a *mere convenience store*.
in the review they declared patty's as having the best fried chicken in connecticut. i'm not sure if i agree, "the best", but it's very, very, surprisingly, good.
