I'm not sure what all the hype is about... 5/9/2009

We were invited to a party here. My first thought when I saw the dimly lit neon sign above the pizza place below is ""Okay...not sure we're at the right place..."" When we entered the building, we first saw the creaky, stained carpeted staircase and a sign with scrolled writing saying, ""Please use the stairs to get to Ibop"" which is on the second floor. To be honest, the interior looks like a cross between an old unrenovated apartment and a youth hostel. From the peeling paint to the uncomfortable chairs, it was not impressive. I don't think the design was even considered here, just space. Sure, karaoke is always fun I guess but I didn't see this as any different from any other karaoke experience. Per couple, we paid $60 which made my jaw drop. I usually am pretty forgiving, especially since the staff seemed nice, but overall I wouldn't recommend this place. GREAT PLACE FOR KARAOKE!!!! 3/30/2009

This place was AWESOME!!! I was real scared when I booked this place because I have never seen or been to it. I relied solely on the reviews, which were all DEAD-ON. The place was soooooooo sketchy when walking up to the karaoke room. Once you walk through the door though it becomes totally legit. Just get through the hallways and make your way inside for some fun. Joshua was the man, he hooked us up with Ice, cups, plates, forks, knives. The sound system was RIDICULOUS! The best thing about this place is that they have every song that you could imagine and of course the BYOB feature. I spent under $200 on bottles of grey goose, beer, and tequila. Best Karaoke 6/14/2008

If you're looking for a great night of karaoke, iBop is the place to go. So much so that when they were booked the night we wanted to go, we changed our date. Between the song selection, the private rooms and the BYOB you can't go wrong. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Our party got a little too big for the room we had, and the staff gave us a bigger room without us even asking. The BYOB allows you to make your own party. Best Place for Karaoke! 6/13/2008

I have been here a bunch of times and have always had an incredible time. The staff are all friendly, helpful, and fair with the price. The music selection is the best that I've seen anywhere else and the atmosphere is really fun. This is the best place for karaoke!! Pros: fun! more

I've been to ibop a bunch of times and have never been disappointed. The music selection is amazing - better than any other place. The rooms are big and comfortable. The bathrooms are clean. And it's BYOB - you can't beat that! The owners don't get there until after 6, so call then. You may get a voicemail, but keep calling until you get through. While this may seem annoying, it's fine. Just keep calling until you get through. If you're in the 34th street area, stop by to make the reservation. The owners and super nice and they have the cutest dog. They give you ice so you don't need to bring that. If you want a Friday or Saturday reservation, call a few weeks in advance. The price is also very reasonable - $7 per person, per hour. iBop is great - you'll have the best time! Pros: BYOB, great music selection, nice owners more

Don't Book iBop 4/26/2008

I'm so angry that I joined citysearch specifically to write this review. I called over a month ago to get a reservation, in which I was told to call back ""next week"". Prior to that, it took me over 10 days just to get someone on the phone. After several weeks of calling repeatedly and even emailing them through citysearch, which got bounced back (clearly the iBop email address isn't even current), they told me they were already booked a week and a half from now, which I was planning on booking. Don't ever go there, they are very difficult to work with. If I could pick less than a Star rating, I would. more

Nice, clean, and comfortable atmosphere. 8/13/2007

It was a little get together for my 32nd birthday. I wanted to do something different, like karaoke. I was skeptical at first but everything turned out great. Went to IBop with about 10 people. Sonny and Josh are very friendly and accomodating. I/we had a blast. BYOB, BYOF(food), BYOE(everything). The music selection was wonderful and up to date. We will definitely be back. Thanks IBop! A fun night of Karaoke 1/29/2007

We were there this past Friday with a large group of people for a birthday party. We had the medium sized room which was perfect for about $20. The owners were exteremly accommodating. Pros: A large music selection, at a reasonable rate Cons: Rooms smelled slightly musty more

Not impressed at all! 11/12/2006

I called the owner to tell her that I was bringing 20 friends. She said that she needed a credit card to hold the room. I said I don't have mine on me at the time, can I come down a leave a cash deposit. She said ""This time we don't need a deposit, it's okay"". I show up with my party and my name is not on the list. They accomodate us, after lecturing us on how we cannot put up any decorations. The owners were so hyper and they rushed us through everything. They also wanted the bill payed by one person. So if you decide to go to i bop, book a room for at least four hours. Also collect the money from everyone before you pay. If you plan on decorating the room for a party you cannot. I asked for a bottle opener and the owner scowled at me and said ""Please make sure I get it back"". i bop is unorganized and very jaded from past clients who have probably stolen bottle openers and over-decorated the room without cleaning up. I didn't like the vibe and I think that the owners need to take a Xanex and get it together! Pros: Seats a large party! Cons: Owners are too hyper! more

SUCH A GREAT NIGHT! 11/5/2006

I planned my husband's birthday here this past weekend and we had a blast!!!!!! The place does have a very shady entrance bc the entire building is under construction but once you get up there, it's awesome!! They have a great song selection and my friends found everything that they wanted on the list.. we also ordered pizza from downstairs - it was pretty good - I would def recomment this place to anyone looking for a cheap way to havee fun in the city! Had my wifes birthday party at iBop last night and all i can say is what a blast. Good sound system, GREAT song selection; we had ages ranging from 28 to 70 and everybody found songs they wanted to sing, clean and comfortable room, BYOB is a solid and money saving policy and based on the limited research that I did (citysearch), ibop has cheapest room rates around. more

It's true what all the other reviews say...this place is awesome. The staff were so nice and helpful, the room was really clean and they have an amazing collection of songs. It was just sad that we only had the room for 2 hours because we only booked 2 days ahead, but we are definitely going to be back here! This place is phenomenal. We went with a group of about 15 and brought our own beer. They supplied us with a sweet futuristic looking cooler to put our beers in. In addition to having a ridiculous song selection, the room itself was very clean and comfortable. We rocked from 9:30 2:30 a.m. and I think the who night cost each person $25. The staff is so nice and accommodating. We ordered pizza from the place down stairs and it was delivered very fast. A great place for large groups looking to have fun and not spend a lot. One final note, dont be turned off by the sketchiness of the place when you first walk in Pros: Cheap, Fun, Friendly Cons: Sketchy Entrance more

Didn't Want to Leave 10/9/2005

Just had a birthday party there last night and it was perfect. We were so at home - thanks to the amazing service from Josh and Sunny - that we really didn't want to leave. We brought our drinks and had pizza delivered and everything was great. The room was a perfect size with a nice big table for all of our food. Just keep in mind that the place is a 3rd floor walk-up when bringing food and drinks. But it really wasn't bad. We easily managed getting all of our stuff up there. The song selection was extremely diverse and the catalog was well organized. The karaoke equipment was great and they kindly give you instructions on all of the features so you know what you're doing. We will definitely go back again. Pros: service , song selection, byob more

iBop rocks the party that rocks my body 8/4/2005

i had my birthday party here last weekend and we all had such an amazing time! everyone was singing and dancing til 4am to a great choice of songs. we even got to bring our own booze which was much cheaper than being at a bar. and, when we got there, we originally had a medium sized room, but they moved us to a larger room when about 30 of us showed up. the staff is SO sweet and accomodating. i'm definitely coming back! more

Went here for a friend's birthday. It looks a little sketchy walking up the stairs to the place, but then the workers are more than friendly, greeting you as you come in and helping you with anything. They even allowed my smoker friends to smoke in their kitchen. The rooms were fun and the music selection was plentiful. When our group got too large, they let us move to one of their larger rooms. It's BYOB, which is nice since you don't end up spending millions at some bar, waiting to get served. Bathrooms were spacious and clean. Spent the entire night there and had a fantastic time. THIS is the place. I have been to them all, and no matter where you go, IBOP is the only place that not only gives you a great karaoke experience with your closet group of friends, it is inexpensive AND the folks are the nicest ever! They are honest and good people trying to make their biz work in this city and they do a d*mn fine job. Have fun, btu don't forget to make your reservation and bring your booze and food! Never had booked a Karaoke party before but I thought I would try this place. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. The selection of songs was amazing.
