Azteca Tacoma

My husband and I just moved to Tacoma from Augusta, GA. We were looking for a great Mexican restaurant. We had a great one that we frequented often in Augusta, so we were hoping to find one here. After one hit and miss, we went to Azteca and were very impressed. I loved the tacos al carbon and my husband loved the variety of soups. The wait staff is friendly and willing to work with special requests. My husband can't have very spicy food and I can't have mushrooms. We now go there when we crave Mexican and highly recommend it! more

Nice looking inside but that is the only good thing about this place. It took about a half hour before our order was taken. People who were seated after us, received and finished their meals before we were served our orders. We ordered appetizers but never got them. I was served something totally different than what I ordered. My corrected order was finally served after my spouse finished his meal. When I went to the restroom, I saw a waitress leave without washing her hands. I have heard similar complaints from other people. \r \r more

I have been taking my family to Azteca in Tacoma for years, despite warnings from friends that they had got been sick after eating there. It appears as though this was my week.\r \r Three of us ordered different items (mine was Chicken Fahitas with Pico de gallo) and I was the only one who got sick. I had only eaten toast on the previous day and as I work nights I had gone to sleep and didn't eat again prior to my visit Wednesday evening at 8:35pm to Azteca. By 5am Thursday morning I was in severe pain in my upper abdomen and within 4 hours after that because violently sick to my stomach. I am 47 years old and this is the most sick I have ever been in my life.\r \r All I can say is beware. I am sure that my meat was thoroughly cooked, and think that the pico de gallo may have been what was contaminated.\r \r Unfortunately my days of visiting Azteca have ended. I can't risk another episode like that. more

Azteca Mexican Restaurant is a family favorite but be prepared to wait or call ahead and make reservations. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is fun and the food is fabulous. Fiesta at Azteca! more
