Sweet Potato Fried were delicious!

Worst

I had a truly dreadful meal there. The service was prompt but rude. The food didn't look good and tasted how it looked.

Good Food, Terrible Service 10/1/2010

I loved the Zen Veggie burgerit was fantastic and all of their juices are delicious! Was pretty dismayed to see of all places a TGIF move into their old location.\r \r I will say this and I do hope the owners read this, their food was always known for being good, but prior to closing I did stop going due to their repeatedly rude, staff from managers (who would be terrible to their own employees) to the waitstaff. The meals stopped being worth the experience.\r \r I am willing to give this place a try again, I only hope they hire friendly, helpful employees and treat their staff better. more

still my favorite after all these years! 3/23/2009

Awesome food, good prices, KILLER cheesecake, fast service. Totally reliable and predictable in the best possible way! Pros: reliable delicious food Cons: ???? none ??? more

The best vegetarian I've Had in the CIty 11/18/2008

I'm not vegetarian but I love this place. The food is very tasty and can trick you for actual meat or chicken. The sesame medallions are their version of sesame chicken and they're wonderful. Served with brown rice it's the prefect meal. If you go there, try a few of they appetizers, It's fun to sample new treats. Love the decor too. more

Wonderful veggie food 9/26/2008

I had a wonderful ""Green Stir Fry"" with meat substitute chunks, peppers, avacado(!) and wasabi sauce. It was absolutely fantastic, and flanked by two delicious mini-summer rolls. Their taro rolls are awesomeness on a plate and in this area the price was an absolute bargain. Service was super friendly and patient in explaining their dishes. Pros: Excellent food, good service, great value Cons: Very little seating inside, tightly packed more

Editorial review from GrubHub 4/18/2008

Was a little slow this time & all the yam fries were cold. Plus they didn't put the sprouts on the side, as per instructions, and there was no lettuce on the veggie burger. There used to be lettuce! Maybe just an off day. more

Best Vegetarian Food 4/8/2008

This is really the best vegetarian food I've had in NY. Some entrees are better than others, but overall its still the best. The fine dining menu, served in the back room of the midtown location and upstairs of the Union Sq, is a little out of my everyday price range. I eat in the cheaper sections with the cheaper menu. And yes they are crowded and small. If you're impressing someone sit in the pricey section, the Union Sq upstairs has a view of the park. If you dont care about that kind of thing, enjoy the other menu, either way the food is fabulous. Pros: Food Cons: some rooms crowded, lines on weekends more

Food is great, but my order was delivered 40 minutes late. My past two deliveries from here have exceeded the expected delivery time. more

Very nice place 2/22/2007

Very nice place to dine! I have been here with friends on a couple of occasions, and the only major drawback is leaving too full. The RosePetals dish is incredible, even my carnivore friends highly enjoyed it. Great location, and very cute decor. Definitly worth it. I would only suggest getting there early, since they do have a tendency to fill up. more

Delicious vegetarian fare, not much for 'meat and potatoes' eaters 12/8/2006

I ate at Zen Palate with a group of 5 for my sister's birthday. We were seated as soon as most of our party had arrived, and they made sure to send the 5th person in the right direction to meet us. We ate in the upstairs 'fine dining' room, which, it should be noted, has a different menu than is listed on the website (that is the 'cafe' menu'). The dining room was quite a bit more expensive, with most entrees between $20-$25 or so. Food was delicious, but there are very few options for people who do like like vegetarian food. Our server was very nice, but service was slow, and when the kitchen forgot to leave the sauce on the side for one dish, it took about 30 minutes for it to come back out. We had no choice but to eat while my sister waited for hers and picked at our dishes. The desserts we tried were amazing-- a delicious chocolate peanut butter cloud, or a rich dark chocolate lava cake. Don't go in a rush or with a meat and potatoes guy, but otherwise very good experience. Pros: Delicious vegetarian dishes Cons: Slow service, not many options for picky eaters more

One of my new favorite restaurants 10/31/2004

I thought this place was too good to be true. With all the good reviews, I figured the food wouldn't live up to the hype, or it would be out of my price range. I got the veggie sandwich for $4.50 (!!!) and it was so filling that I only ate half of it. The food was delicious, and there's so many choices that I just might come back again and again. I don't know why Citysearch lists this place as expensive. Their pre fixe combos are around $8, which is cheaper than a lot of places in NY. Pros: delicious food, cheap prices, variety of dishes more

Zen is pleasing to the Palate 9/2/2003

My girlfriend and I have been to Zen Palate several times. When we go out to traditional Chinese restaurants we usually order vegetarian anyway, and always wind up getting the same 3 or 4 dishes. At Zen Palate there is a great variety of vegetarian cuisine to chose from, all very good, and most at reasonable prices. We like the appetizer sampler, sometimes we order that as a meal. With ambiance that is serene and refreshing and a wait staff that is attentive and friendly, this is a great place to unwind. more

Meatless Comfort Food 3/31/2003

I go to ZP nearly every time I am in NYC. The place is tiny, but I love not being able to decide what to get. This doesn't usually happen to a vegetarian in Central PA. Great pineapple tea too! To me, this is vegetarian comfort food, gentle, hearty, not too spicy, and accessible to everyone, whether carnivore or herbivore. Pros: Great, cheap menu Cons: A bit cramped more

Didn't enjoy 8/24/2002

The food is delicious here, the decor is quite nice whether your in the cafe are for a quick bite or the beautifully designed interior of the main restaurant. Service was promt and courteous. The food is delicious as it is healthy. (I highly reccomend any of the curry dishes!) This food trully satisfies the soul...and the stomach. more
