Good, not great 2/9/2009

I had a bison buger, which was actually really good. When you pull in to the parking lot you feel like you're the only one that is going to be inside. It is pretty dead. It is also a little to dark in there and somewhat chilly. The service was good and so was the food. I thought it was priced a little out of its range Pros: good food Cons: ambience more

It was great... At first 1/27/2009

My husband, son and I went to dinner on a queit Wednesday evening. Food was great, service was great through the entire meal. At the end when the server brought our bill, she then discovered that I had a certificate/coupon from an unamed website. She then told me, before even ringing out my debit card, ""The only thing I ask is that you tip the full amount"". Well of course I would tip the full amount as if I had no discount! I'm not cheap trash. I tipically tip 20-25%. Had she not made that comment, she would have gotten 25%. After that though, she got the standard 15%. How dare you direct someone how much to tip you. That's tacky and rude. Pros: queit and good food Cons: server told me how much to tip her more

Entries are very pricy and very poor ambience. Quality not as par for the price. I would not recommend this place. This place is dead. Pros: service Cons: pricy, poor ambience more

New South Wales An Honest Review November 2008 11/24/2008

Had read all the reviews, but had never been to this restaurant, so thought that I'd check it out. I took my son and daughter-in-law with me for additional opinions. We all loved the casual, yet subdued atmosphere, with soft yet playful music, where people are actually able to communicate with one another, and enjoy a private conversation, while experiencing some of the best food in Colorado Springs. I can't compliment this place enough. The wine was delicious. The appetizers (which we all shared) were varied and flavorful. The crab bisque was delicious. The rolls seemed to be a warm mixture of a mild sourdough, topped with broiled cheese. The mandarin orange and walnut house salad was very good. The entree presentations were beautiful. The lamb and beef dishes were all well prepared and extremely tender. The fried onion vegetable cups were surprisingly creative and tasty. We all appreciated the fresh fruit that came with the entrees. And, lastly, each one of us can attest to the fact that the desserts are scrumptious. In addition to this, the service was exceptional, from the initial greeting through the responsive wait staff, to the friendliness of the very nice gentleman who brought us our take home containers. All that I can say is this. I'm glad that I chose this restaurant, and I know that all three of us will be back. Thank-you, New South Wales, for one of the finest dining moments that I've had in a very long time. more

Disappointing at best. 11/10/2008

My boyfriend and I were looking for a new place to try, and I remembered this restaurant from over ten years ago when I had gone once with my parents. We decided to give it a shot and were expecting high prices. The drink selection wasn't bad, and we ordered the kangaroo appetizer which tasted FANTASTIC! Unfortunately, that's the only good I have in this review. I ordered the duck as a main course and it actually was so dry I asked if they could ake it again. The waitress came back telling us the chef said that's how it was supposed to be, so I ordered the marinated chicken breast instead. When that cae out, it was still VERY pink in the center, so I had to send that back as well. My boyfriends steak was labelled on the menu as ""marbled"", but when he got it, it just had a big blob of fat in the center. He asked the waitress for a drink refill and she just forgot about us for over twenty minutes. Finally some guy who we hadn't met in a plaid shirt came over to see how everything was (I think he was a manager, but didn't introduce himself), and we finally got a drink refill. After all of that, absolutely nothing was covered on our eal and we ended up paying for both of my entrees. The attire of the staff was barely about truckstop level, and the pricing was outrageous for the service and food. The place was dead, so there was absolutely no excuse. I will never waste my money there again. Try Blue Star or Mona Lisa if you want a meal worth the price! more

Expensive for what you got! 12/31/2007

We decided to try this place last night as it was our anniversary. It had been recommended by some friends so we took a shot and dropped by without a reservation. Since the place was nearly empty that wasn't an issue. That said it was quite chilly and sparsly decorated. Not a problem except you couple that with the chill in the air and it made the entire atmoshpere worth mentioning.\r \r My wife decided to start with the crab cakes indicated on the menu with a ""new"" next to the item. We were then told they did not have any and that they, in fact, were not going to carry them anymore. She instead order the crab claws. When they arrived I noticed they were most likely thawed from a bag and served, didn't look appealing to me but she ate them. Next the main course. She attempted to order the stuffed chicken. Again it indicated ""new"" next to the item. Again, she was told they did not have that entree and were, in fact, not serving it anymore. She ended up with the white shrimp teriakki style. Unfortunately they were overcooked to the point that they were burned. She ate those also but wasn't too happy. I went the safe route and had the flatiron steak. It was about 8 ounces and was served with a baked potato. I was somewhat disappointed in the steak. Honestly, for $23 I would expect something a little more tender and properly cooked. Also, the baked potato was almost as chilly as the restaraunt.\r \r I don't want to bash the entire place. The wait staff was quite friendly it's just that I'd expect a bit more with regard to the food, menu etc when you consider the prices. Pros: Staff Cons: Atmosphere (Cold!), food more
