Good Honest Doc 10/25/2009

Dr. Zafar-khan saved my wife's life earlier this year. Debbie was brought to the Emergency Room with many problems- she was found to have kidney failure, diabetes and an infection in her lungs. He new what to do from the beginning. I would trust Dr. Zafar-Khan without hesitation. My wife is alive today because of this good man. Pros: Intelligent and compassionate more

My super cool Doctor! 4/13/2009

A portion of my job duties requires me to have to deal with many different doctors all the time. I have had many encounters with very unkind, egocentric and uncompassioante doctors. Fortunatly at the same time, I had experienced working with compassionate, humble, caring doctors, which one of them happens to be Dr Zafar-Khan. This doctor is not only one of the most compassionate people I had ever met, but also, a true friend. I have seen Dr Khan deal with very ill patients and also deal with their families who are usually in a terrible dispair with great control. He gives the patients and their families hope and cares for them, he doesn't just treat them like a number that he has to deal with. Dr Khan is very optimistic, and he's always very caring to those around him. Pros: Always there for me more

Fantastic Doctor 2 thumbs up 3/31/2009

My father was diagnosed of multiple myloma and this new had devastated our family. Doctor Fawad not only took care of the medical aspect but also the emotional aspect. He guided us through and through and not for a minute let us feel helpless or depressed and I love his upbeat and positive approach. Our entire family is indebted to him for life. Pros: Most compassionate and knowledgeble doctor more

My Appreciation 3/25/2009

Thank you so much Dr. Zafar Khan for the wonderful care you gave B.A while she was hospitalized with Anemia. My Aunt, my Grandmother, my Cousin, and I really appreaciate your good judgement calls with her transfusions. I felt so much better after you ruled out internal bleeding by looking after her H & H response to transfusions and running a CT scan. I am so grateful you took care of her when I was out of town and I couldn't. Thank You. Pros: Best Doctor more

Amazing Doctor 2/26/2009

I have been going to Dr. Zafar Khan for the past 3 or 4 years and he has never steered me in the wrong direction. He never makes anyone wait in the waiting room for more than 10 min. His staff are always very friendly in the office and on the phone. They are also very quick to call in prescriptions and even fax pharmacies. When they order tests they always call right away even if its to tell me that Im fine. He also takes time to get to know his patients, he gave my mom his cell when she was really sick. He is a very caring and kind person who is truly invested in his patients health. Pros: He is interested in everything so he knows all the latest research and treatment. more

St. John's is a great hospital, the ICU nurses are amazing, but Dr. Zafar Kahn should not be taking care of our loved ones 1/24/2009

After working with Dr. Zafar Kahn for 2 months I know first hand that this man should not be a doctor. He may be trained and educated, but he is the worst doctor I have ever worked with. The staff at St. John's in Santa Monica, California is not impressed with him either. My opinion is that he does not care, he is arrogant, and he assumes too much. At times, even when presented with information, he ignores you and becomes arrogant and sometimes very defensive. Many times he does not return phone calls, or even have the respect to call you with test results. When he finally calls you back, he defends himself and blames other doctors, instead of just apologizing for his lack. My first impression was not good...I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Now, after 9 weeks of working with him...I know that he should find a new profession, or at least step down from his current position and stay away from our loved ones, especially the elderly. Pros: None - even his office staff is rude to boot Cons: too many to list more

Worst Doctor Ever! 9/29/2008

This man does not adhere to the crede of First Do No Harm. He refused to implement my wife's doctor's orders, delayed their implementation and basically facilitated her unneccessary death. He refused to talk to family members and in fact wrote his orders away from the patient to avoid contact. Stay away! Pros: No positives from this man Cons: Too numerous to count (TNTC) more

Kind hearted means well, but knowledge/critical thinking, and availability/bed side manners are horrendous. 6/19/2007

This Dr. works with many elderly patients at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica. He misdiagnosed my mother after she had a fall. Prescribed medicines that did not work since he believed her complaints were unfounded. The nursing staff following his cues then also adopted this behavior towards her culminating in the worse care a patient, who is suffering 9 level (1-10) pain, could receive. The Dr. dismissed my mother's pain complaints as wanting attention (this the head nurse disclosed to me) and continued to sneak in lesser medicines for her pain, thinking she would not notice. When the pain came back, the Dr. Khan was slow to react as well as the nursing staff, taking upwards of five to seven hours to administer the correct prescription and dosage. After hours of verbal fighting with the Dr. and two more wrong precritpions due to a lack of attention to detail, my mother received enough medication to subside the pain to make a flight back to her home in Sacramento. Ten days later now, her Dr. in Sacramento took a regular x-ray and found her back to be broken. An appointment later today will tell us if she will need surgery. Pros: agreeable at times, easy to speak with Cons: lack of knowledge, nonchalant care, is on site about 2 hours a day will see patient once per day more
