Great Sushi! 12/18/2005

Great sushi, Great service....Great ambience. The drinks are also great...try the lime margueritas....you won't regret it! Pros: Service, Food/Sushi more

decent but had better 11/19/2005

I had the sushi dinner (about 9 pieces of sushi and chicken terriyaki). The chicken was tender and juicy but the portion was pretty small. The sushi....one shrimp, one salmon, two of something, and 4 pieces of spicy tuna. The salmon was the best and everything else was OK. The service was not that great...not sure if it was just tonight because it is a Saturday night and it seemed like there were two large parties. I would have to say that the ambience was the best part for me. Pros: nice decorations Cons: small portions more

Fountain + Fresh Fish = Z Sushi 8/5/2005

It's hard to miss the fountain on your left as you enter. We had to admire it on the way out after a very satisfying meal. Great atmosphere with an assortment of music and appropriate lighting. The appetizers are a must. The tofu steak was the size of an entree, but only if you enjoy lots of tofu and vegetables. We shared a sashimi dinner, reasonably priced, which included tuna, salmon, albacore, snapper, surf clam, and halibut. The portions were nice, but it'd be nice to have the usual miso soup, edamame, tea, and dessert. But the staff was quick and courteous and there's good parking. If lunch really is cheaper, as the other reviews say, I'd have to make this my favorite sushi spot (everything else being the same). Pros: Fresh Fish, Ample Parking, Great Atmosphere Cons: Not Near My House, No Sushi Boats, No Complimentary Item more

What a surprise! 11/19/2004

Honestly, I didnt have much expectation when I first tried Z sushi. I grew up eating sushi all my life and quite picky about it. The Ther are dime and dozen sushi restaurants popping out everywhre in west LA area, and all trying to be the next trendy fusion sushi restaurant. So I thouht this is one of them in SGvalley. A lot of dishes are actually very authentic and traditionally prepared at its finest. Almost all the special of the day displayed behind sushi chef's head is worthy of trying. Some dishes are still prepared in a more fusion taste with nice presentation, but you can still tell the chef hasnt forget his traditional trainning of making authentic sushi. Raw fish at its best. Fresh! more

Great sushi dining experience 11/5/2004

Z Sushi offers excellent, fresh sushi at inexpensive prices. It is an appropriate and convenient choice for all occasions date nights, private parties, or on the go dining, etc. The restaurant's ambience is superb, with its spacious seating area and brightly lit sushi bar. The hostess and servers are friendly and helpful about food choices. more

Great sushi place in the SGV 11/5/2004

With so many japanese sushi restraunt's in the San Gabriel Valley, I found this one to be the best! It has great food and is reasonbly priced. The atmosphere was very relaxing, with great service from the staff. It's also a plus when the hostess is HOT! Check it out, you have nothing to lose Pros: Good Food, Reasonably Priced, Nice Decor more

Its a very comfortable place. Nice ambiance, friendly and proffesional service, good value. My favorite drink was the Lychee Martini (must try). The food very fresh and tasty. Its worth to give it a try. Pros: Friendly service, inexpensive more

Best Sushi in Town 8/21/2004

My friends always told me to go and i finally did last night. My friends and I were in love with the food and ambiance. There were 3 different parties going on with two of them being served Omakazis (pre-set chef menus). Their Spicy Lobster and Spicy Beef Sashimi are sooooooooooo good. This is now my favorite restaurant! Pros: Food, Music, Parking more

Great Cocktails & Food 7/20/2004

Their cocktails were delicious and unique. Try their lychee and plum martinis. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. The Beef Teriyaki was tender and flavorful. I found the atmosphere to be extremely cozy and warm. more

Posh, but I've seen better 6/28/2004

The quality of the food was excellent. The quantity left something to be desired. Good drinks, and ambiance, but they kept playing that annoying ""Bablyon"" song over and over. The waiter forgot to bring me my Salmon Carpaccio. I had to ask for it when the waiter asked if we wanted our bill. After soup and two of the tasty special dishes, I left hungry and not terribly impressed. Pros: Flavorful dishes, free edemame W/drinks, cozy decor Cons: , small dishes, cheezy music more

""Z"" with an ""A"" Rating 6/21/2004

Z was ""Z"" best sushi restaurant I've been to in a long time. From the easy parking (they have their own large lot) to the amazing waterfall pond in the entrance to the friendly service to the fresh sushi, delicious food, golden apple martinis, and tempura ice cream to the amazingly inexpensive bill I received at the end ... everything was delightful. Z has a homely feel with a beautiful atmosphere. When I went back for lunch, I was shocked to discover that their prices were even lower. Their portions were also huge. I am writing because I know how difficult it is for people to switch sushi restaurants but I recommend Z because I have now become I regular there and I am having a hard time switching to any other sushi restaurant. (And yes ... they have an A rating!!!!!) Pros: inexpensive, good parking, great atmosphere more

RECOMMENDED !! 4/1/2004

Z Sushi's great! I'm a regular. The reason i go back so often is because of the friendly service and consistently good food (fresh sushi). The ambience is great.. light jazzy music like Norah Jones and contemporary japanese decor with candles everywhere. i love it! It's a nice place to go to for a romantic date or just for drinks. Their lunch menu is pretty inexpensive too. The only thing I would change about this place would be their hours. They at around 11pm. But other than that, great place over all! Pros: Great service, nice atmosphere, fresh sushi more

Fantastic!! 12/4/2003

Z Sushi is a hidden gem in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley. The service is impeccable with friendly wait staff and sushi chefs offering some of the freshest, most innovative and delicious Japanese creations in the area. Try the spicy tuna tempura roll or the Z special. For drinks, the lychee martini is a must!! Pros: good value, friendly staff, parking more

Great Sushi 7/22/2003

This place has great sushi. They have a really good happy hour for drinks. Full Bar, great selection of sakes. Try the rasberry sake. Love the tuna...it's very fresh. It's a must try! Enjoy! Pros: Fresh, Good Drinks, Parking Cons: No Booths more

Wished it was better 12/30/2002

The people at this place were super nice. The wait staff, the hostess, the bartenders.. all great. The sushi though lacked taste. The tempura was good but not amazing. I had the Albacore with Garlic sushi and wished I hadnt... not that it was gross or anything, just wish i had picked something else.. the spicy tuna rolls were decent as were the octopus and calif. rolls... not a bad experience by any measure but there are better sushi in the area. All this said... maybe i went on a bad night. Pros: great staff, good cocktails, good parking more
