Best

Try it. You wont' be dissapointed. Pros: great original dishes Cons: can have a large wait.

Worst

Terrible customer service. Waiters/waitresses were not tentative to our needs, which is strange because there are only about 5 tables in the place. Had to wait a long time for a...

My Favorite Sushi Restaurant 2/28/2005

Growing up in Hawaii and being of Japanese ethnicity, I find Yoko's to be the best sushi in Portland. Great ingredients, a wonderful variety, friendly service and authentic preparation make it a must for casual sushi dining. more

I LOVE YOKO'S 2/5/2005

Yoko's is one of the most inviting places to eat. The kind of place where everybody knows your name Pros: excellent sushi, intimate, great service Cons: no large groups more

super good 8/16/2004

Yoko's is the best. The sushi is truly very fresh (I watched the sushi guy cut the beautiful tuna) and the rolls are excellent and creative! Such a cool place and everyone working there is doing a great job, especially considering there are four people working in the entire restaraunt on any given nite. Yoko's rocks! Please dont go there if you are uptight, in a hurry, or are expecting geisha girls to wait on your every whim. It is laid back and casual! Just the way I like it. If you want a stuffy atmosphere-go somewhere else! If you want great food and a great time- Yoko's is for you! Pros: excellent food, nice people, great music more

yOKo's 6/1/2004

We've been on a search for the best Sushi in portland... and Yoko's certainly is up there. Food is great, prices are average, but the inside is a little run down. Definitely try their special roll, quite a taste. Pros: Fresh more

Sweet find! 8/25/2003

This is just a small place that is quite popular and always full. Your best bet is to sit at the bar and chat with the sushi chef. Maybe others that went had not so fresh sushi but what we had (and we had quite a selection) was very nicely done and very fresh. The prices weren't outrageous like at some of the other sushi joints and I felt like I got my money's worth. Had other items besides sushi as well and they were all very good. A great place if you can get a seat!!! more

Good sushi 7/16/2003

but not great. Does tend to be very fresh. They are not open for lunch and there does tend to be a wait at dinner on busier nights. The wait-staff can are nice, but can be quite inattentive. On my last visit there we waited in the cramped doorway (waiting area) for a full 20 minutes staring at an empty and cleaned table right beside us. At the very least they could have seated us and we could have ordered drinks. We haven't been back since, mainly because there is just too much good sushi in town to wait for 40 minutes. more

Better than most 6/20/2003

The Taka's Tuna is delicious, but difficult to eat. They make a great version of boneless deep fried chicken strips, not to be confused with chicken fingers. The Miso soup, Unagi sushi, and mochi were all very good. Other than needing more plates and checking up for frequently, service was good. Pros: fried chicken more

Pretty Good 5/30/2003

Yoko's is pretty good, I don't think it's as exceptional as many of the other reviewers, but I do think it's good. Sushi was good, interesting rolls, and nigiri was good. Maybe it was an off night, but it didn't ""stand out"" to me. Pretty good values, steak & sushi combo is worth it. Pros: Good Food, cute place Cons: street parking, small more

Great character and food 5/28/2003

What a fun little place! We've lived in the neighborhood of Yoko's for over a year and kept meaning to go there - now we wish we'd been MUCH sooner. The tempura is light and fluffy and flavorful, the sushi is delightful, and it has a great saltwater fishtank. Excellent. Pros: Small and intimate, Great atmosphere, Fabulous food more

Small and intimate 4/30/2003

best sushi around, friendly people, great times. Small, but relaxed - you don't feel rushed. I would say not the best place for small kids, but a great place for a date or to get together with some friends. Pros: Yoko's sushi, inexpensive, intimate Cons: parking, can get crowded more

Hands down, the best sushi!! 4/5/2003

My husband and I have visited several sushi places here in Portland. Tonight for our first anniversary, we decided to try someplace close to home. Wow (said with reverance and respect.) The sushi is frsh and beautifully presented. The wait staff and sushi chefs are friendly and efficient. Even though it is a very small restaurant, the wait wasn't long, even on a Saturday night. more

Don't tell anyone... 3/8/2003

about this place. Some of the best sushi in town. And not overpriced, overrated or over popular. Good sushi and a good price. They could be a bit more user friendly. But not bad. And in a nice, out of the way neighborhood. Keep the secret! Pros: Fresh fish, Fresh fish, Fresh fish Cons: Waited a bit too long, for the food more
