Yello Corner School

Lately I've been reading reviews about yello corner, and to be honest, some of ya'll dont have a clue. Children dont learn aggressive behavior at a day care. They learn to be bullies by the TV they watch or from what they see and experience at home. I went to Yello corner when I was a kid and I know for a fact that I and my friends did not learn to be a bully there, though those who were got put in time out; there is nothing wrong with disciplining a child in such a mild way. Taking away a privilege because the child is disbehaving is not abuse, nor is it inhuman. You people need to lighten up with the daycare, they are just doing their jobs. The teachers might not stimulate your child the way you would, but they are not neglecting them in anyway. Yello corner allows children to run and express their creativeness in their own way. more

Yello Corner school has been very good to us. They are affordable and trustworthy. We love our child's teachers and feel they really care about the children there. The director is very nice as well. My child will continue to go to Yello Corner until their services are no longer needed. more

My 3 year old son started here after going to a wonderful montessori/waldorf inspired school (we were in part time and the school was very expensive) so we were told by a friend that YC was a good school to place a child in full time. Jackie was welcoming in the beginning, but once our son was in (about a week) they called me while at my job and told me that my son was misbehaving and that they didn't tolerate physical children in their school. When I went to get him they sat me in a chair and told me that I needed to take all of his priviledges away when i got him home and that I should contact his pediatrician. The next day I got a call that I needed to pick him and as well as his things. I was livid. I cried for two days. They made me feel like I was a bad parent. My husband called them up and had a few words with them, but he kept his cool and was very professional, unlike them. The week he was in there I would see the teachers just sitting there not interacting with the children at all. All they do is sit in a chair and look at their nails. No kidding. What kind of atmosphere is that for a child? Children need inspiration, understanding and lots of stimulation. This school is rediculous and unprofessional. I called a montessori school and several other schools and told them what had happened and they couldn't believe how unprofessional YC was. We now have him at great school where the teachers are degreed, certified and have an understanding for all children . He is loved and respected and is so happy. I would not recommend this school to anyone at all unless you have a perfect little angel that will keep there mouths shut and like to play alone with zero stimulation. I just want to say thank you to Jacki Spillman and her wonderful staff. My son has been with Yello Corner since he was a baby. He just graduated from pre-k all ready for kindergarten. Every night he talks about his day and can not wait for the next day of school. I have always felt good knowing my son was having fun and learning. The art work he has created, most have special meaning will always be treasured. If you are looking for a fantastic child development center and live in the Cedar Park/Leander area please check Yello Corner out. Each classroom prepares your child for their next stages in your child's life. My child is reading level one books and is writing wonderfully. Jacki, has understood and worked with me thru some personal challenges in my family's life. Thank you for being there for my family. YELLO CORNER SCHOOL IS NUMBER 1! I have never enrolled my child at this center but I did go take the tour. To begin their back door was unlocked and just anyone can get in. The building is old and it was 93 degrees outside but the director didnt have the ac on upstairs. There is very little parking available and for the price which is $140 it seems like you could afford to pay a little more for a better looking place since most other places don't charge more than that. They also don't offer part time and when I asked the person that was giving me the tour 'kristen' she said the director prefferred if they were'nt picked up until after 3:00 pm. So don't even try if you want less than that. All in all I think it is similar to the bagdad early start center which is for financially needy parents yet the yello corner still manages to charge high fees. Pros: not much different from others Cons: old building, chidren have to go up and down stairs more

For most parents, finding the right daycare can be a nightmare. When we were looking to switch daycares, Yello Corner was the obvious choice. The staff provide the structure that creates a safe, fun and educational environment. There is very little staff turnover-if any- creating the stability that children need. This is a rare find. I previously worked for the state and know that most daycares have very high turnover. My son loves going to Yello Corner and I have NEVER had to worry about leaving him. I have continued to send my son to Yello Corner even though I no longer work because my child enjoys going ""to school."" My son has learned so much in the past 2 years at Yello Corner. The pre-k curriculum was designed by the director and goes above and beyond preparing the children for kindergarten. All of the staff at Yello Corner are very courteous to parents and loving towards the children. My son constantly talks about his teachers in a very positive way. My son can be very sensitve at times and the staff at Yello Corner are very respectful of this. If you are looking for a daycare that provides for your child's social, emotional and educational needs, I would highly recommend Yello Corner. If you want to be able to go through your workday without having concern about what may or may not being happening to your child, Yello Corner IS the place. Mrs.Jackie, the owner, has a heart of gold and clearly wants to provide a safe and nurturing place for all the children attending Yello Corner. Pros: Very affordable, small class sizes, little or no staff turnover, clean structured environment Cons: lunch must be provided by parent 3 days a week more

if you want a daycare that will work with you when your child misbehaves then don't take them here! you need to have a little soldier that will do exactly as they ask or you will find yourself unwelcome, sad but true. the owner, jackie, was unwilling to help provide any suggestions other than to say she needed to do. she's 3, and behaves as most 3 years olds ~ was testing her limits and they could not handle it. less than 2 weeks and we are gone...for a school to not provide any suggestions or recommendations on how to help her adjust is very poor in my opinion. they are suppose to be specialist in early childhood development, we as parents continued to try and deal with it as best as we could with no help from them. again, if your child is a perfect angel then you will most likely not encounter the issues we had nor be told that kids that came from our previous school (stepping stone) often get asked to leave according to the owner, jackie. Pros: small center with few teachers, so you get to know everyone Cons: must provide own lunch as well as be prepared to pick up your kid if they misbehave yet still pay them for the day more

I would never put my child in this daycare again!!!!!!!! The owner is very unprof. and would yell at children. My child was there for four months and it was four months of hell for her she would cry and scream when she was lefted, only to find out that she was yelled out all day and put in a corner for hours. For parents that are thinking about putting their children at Yello Corner I would say think again and find another center or for the price hire a nanny!! Pros: The last day my child was there and we no longer have to take her to that hell Cons: worst childcare center ever!!!!! more

My child has been here since 2000. Owner is wonderful and communication is always open. Virtually no turn over in staff, so you know they are happy being employed there. The few ""issues"" we had over the last six years, have been promptly addressed and amicably resolved. I would recommend this daycare facility to anyone! Afterall, I have trusted them with my whole world for the last six years. Pros: Fabulous staff, fun summer activities to prevent boredom. Cons: You have to pack a lunch for your child. But this helps keep the tuition costs low. more

My 2-years old loves to go there and adores all his teachers. Owner is nice and understanding. Learning program is exellent. ( especially arts and grafts) very children-friendly atmosphare.Good value. perfect class sizes. more
