Go For The Food, The Service Will Keep You Coming Back 3/27/2008

Had a dinner party for 20 in the 186 Room. The food has great presentation and flavor (my table included the calamari small plate, the shrimp crepes, the vegetarian tofu, Mellow Yellow Noodles and the duck), but the real secret is the service! Stephanie and Linda hosted the room with style and professionalism! They were very personable and attentive, learned everyone in the room quickly and executed flawlessly! Serious Kudos! Pros: Service! Food presentation and freshness Cons: Can be noisy more

Very good, non traditional Vietnam, ese 3/10/2008

The ambiance in the new location is great. there is a lounge/bar area and various dining rooms that can accomodate large groups and parties. The food is great. more

Creative menu, great service and wonderful food. 12/9/2007

We have eaten hear for lunch and dinner. Weekends and weeknights and it is always great. Friends who we have introduced to Xanh have loved it and all have gone again. more

I won't stop until I have tried Everything on the menu 8/24/2006

I don't do this often, but every blue moon and good restaurant, I just have to get everything on the menu, just once. Well I am half way through and still delighted with the food! \r \r Everything has been great so far. Most of the things that were just ok, well I am not a fan of anyway. Like tofu. \r \r Fun place to go for a date or just to hang out with friends and share a meal. Met the owner and she was pretty nice. Pros: Great entrees mostly under $10 each, great for sharing, nice wine selection Cons: Hard to get seating after 7pm; more

Just Plain Outstanding! 7/15/2006

Wow, where to begin. Excellent service, very clean, inviting environment, good prices, and best of all, the food was amazing! I had my doubts when I first walked in, a little concerned about the service when I saw the restaurant had every table filled. But I was wrong. My boyfriend and I LOVED everything we ate. Garlic shrimp noodles, the shrimp/pork spring roll, the shaky beef, the moon wraps, and the sea bass. Talk about oustanding! Come here if you want to have a good time with outstanding food! Pros: Food, service, decor Cons: None I can think of more

Modern, but pretentious 6/11/2006

Took my parents to Xanh on a Sat night to try for the first time. We liked that the menu offered traditional Viet dishes (my parents are traditional Vietnamese folks) but didn't think the subtle ""twists"" on the dishes, coupled w/ the small portions, justified the high prices. Our favorite dish, ironically, was the raw ahi tuna served in a martini glass w/ a quacamole-like concoction-- not a traditional Viet dish, BTW (maybe spanish inspired?). Overall, we thought the restaurant was too pretentious for our taste and I can't help but get the feeling that this was a modern American restaurant that happens to be serving Viet food. The decor and environment are more suggestive of an American dining experience. I'd like to come back for drinks w/ friends, though... seems like a good environment for that. more

Excellent Restaurant! 4/20/2006

The service was perfect. The kobe roll appetizer was exquisite. Such a nice change for Mountain View. Finally, an excellent restaurant. The Xanh Salad was delicious and full of flavor, and fun to eat!! As a main dish which we split for two people we had the Shaking beef (filet mignon) was so tender! Went very well with our white rice. The food was NOT cold at all, it came out nice and HOT. Didn't wait long for our dinner. Staff was very attentive and friendly. And the price was just right. Worth every penny. Pros: great size portions, very clean , great service Cons: none. more

XANH a Hip, Unique Dining Experience 4/3/2006

In the Bay Area where Asian Fusion restaurants are abundant, one place stands out XANH, where the food and service is exceptional. Weve dined at XANH numerous times. The attentive staff caters to your every need. Particularly rare in restaurants, but a practice at XANH is that other staff would stop by to refill your glass, take your plate, etc. We have tried almost everything. The food is phenomenal! Top favorites: the shaking beef (it actually melts in your mouth!), ahi tuna tartare, steamed sea bass, and banana flower salad. Save room for dessert. The hazelnut mousse and chocolate box rate an A+. Top those off with a cup of Vietnamese coffee and life is good. The ambience encourages patrons to talk to one another great food makes for a good conversation starter. If you're looking for a hip place and a unique dining experience, stop by XANH. Pros: Friendly Staff, Delectable Food, Clean more

Don't miss this restaurant's innovative menu 4/2/2006

I've never had food quite like the items served up at Xanh restaurant in Mountain View. Once we were seated, our server arrived quickly and took our drink and food orders. Before I knew it, the first appetizer came - the deuce roll. This was a springroll type appetizer with shrimp and pork rolled up in rice paper with a flavorful peanut sauce. These rolls are a highlight of the menu. Be sure to order one even if you don't typically order appetizers. My main course was the garlic noodles with prawns. The prawns were large and full of flavor and the noodles were cooked just right. We also ordered the coconut rice, which was stickier and more coconut-y (down to being sprinkled with tiny coconut flakes). It was fabulous! Pros: flavorful food, unique menu Cons: crowded more

Pleasantly surprised... 3/30/2006

For me Tamarine has lost it's luster so I have been looking for an alternative to Three Seasons (which I still enjoy) and noticed Xanh as I was driving by. The rolls are good, I especially like the Xanh salad as well as the Rice Crepes (great idea!). If you enjoy asian fusion definitely check this place out. The service does need a little work but presentation, portions and price are worth it. If they keep it up they will definitely give Tamarine a run for it's money! more

Xanh restaurant has been open for about 1 month and a half now and Ive gone there 6 times and at every time its been a great experience. The food is excellent and presentation is amazing. Every time I go there with my husband and friends I always eat their xanh salad, crispy shrimp clouds, fighting prawns, and shaking beef. By the way, the crispy shrimp clouds take a while to make but worth the wait. I must admitthey do get crowded. However, the food and service is great. Pros: Food great, Tasty Cons: Crowded, Loud more

If you like cold food and slow service.. 3/26/2006

then, you should try this place. I had 4 different servers approach me in my whole meal, making the consistency for my requests quite confusing and timely. ALL but one of my five main dishes I ordered came out cold. When I approached the waiter about the tofu dish that came out cold, he suggested ""would you like me to take it in the back and zap it?"" At that point, I said, ""please just remove it from my table. I don't know about you, but I prefer my dinner above tepid."" He proceeded to leave and not address my concerns. The only thing I would come back for are the rolls. I was very disappointed at the lack of creativity and originality. If you do go to Xanh, don't expect a great fusion experience like Tamarine, Le Colonial or Three Seasons, but just another surbuban knock-off. Pros: price, appetizers Cons: service, food more

Everything was outstanding! 3/13/2006

I recently had the privilege of dining at Xanh and it far exceeded my expectations! The food, the ambiance and the service were all outstanding. Xanh offers the best food that I have had in the Bay Area in a long time (and I tend to be quite difficult to please!) We shared several of the entrees (including the fighting prawns, shaking beef and tamarind prawns), garlic noodles, the traditional roll, spicy tuna roll and tuna tartare--each dish was truly unique and remarkable. It is rare to order so many entrees and have each new dish test as great as the previous dish--what a culinary treat! I would highly recommend Xanh and plan to return again and again...The prices and attentive service (so rare these days) were also great! Pros: The food!, The service!, The ambiance/decor! Cons: NONE! more

if you like asian fusion... 3/12/2006

for fans of three seasons and tamarind (in PA), i would highly recommend this hip and fun, not to mention very delicious, new restaurant. the portions are just right for the prices. if you don't know what to order, try the grapefruit salad, crispy shrimp clouds, xanh full moon wraps, the steamed sea bass, and the hazelnut mousse for dessert! Pros: food, portions, good value Cons: crowded more

THE BEST ASIAN FUSION EXPERIENCE!! 3/9/2006

When you first walk in you are greeted with a friendly smile and seated promptly. The atmosphere and the music just sets the mood for fun experience eating at the restaurant. The vivid colors, water display, and lavish visual presentation of the food is EXCELLENT! Again, not only is the presentation astounding the food is remarkable. The food is fresh; it gives a new meaning to the word zesty, and burst in your mouth flavor. The food is something you will never try again it is a one of a kind Vietnamese restaurant. The restaurant is small but very intimate. See be sure to make your reservations in advanced. It has just opened and I have been there more that 3 times. The dishes I recommend are: Xanh Full Moon Wraps, Pineapple Short Ribs, Mellow Yellow Noodles, Ahi Tuna Tarte, Garlic Noodles, and lastly the Xanh Tamarind Jumbo Prawns. Pros: GREAT Enviroment, GREAT Service, GREAT Food more
