Bad Experience 4/7/2012

I took my child here for about a year. The instructor was an older lady who did not know her material, frequently had to consult books to remember what she was teaching, and couldn't perform most of the moves. When I approached the owner about this, he was rude and dismissive. When it would come testing time, I (and many other parents) had to use the DVDs from the organization to teach my kid his forms at home, because he never got everything he needed in class. The program manager at the time was extremely helpful, but he was fired last year. I finally took my child out because I was extremely frustrated. My child now trains at FMK and I am extremely happy there. I would not recommend this school to anyone more

Great School 11/30/2011

I had a relative that trained here a few years back, and he absolutely loved it. I went to his Dan promotion ceremony and was especially impressed with the atmosphere. It is a very positive place, headed by Mr Frank Schermerhorn who is a Master of Soo Bahk Do karate. He is very kind, patient, and a Great teacher. They have a fairly spacious training floor and haveabout 9-12 students per class on a usual day. The staff of instructors are sharp and know their material, and always give good talks about respect and discipline. It's more than just jumping around and punching and kicking there is a greater message alongside their self defense and forms material. The building is down on Front St. Near the red oak diner with a parking lot in the back. Sometimes it fills up on busy nights, and there is a large grassy area to park in behind the lot. Very much recommended! more
