Scrub Jays and More
The county's efforts at scrub restoration have brought back the protected Florida scrub jay to the preserve, where several examples of endangered and endemic scrub plants thrive, including rosemary (not the culinary plant), scrub holly, silk bay, garberia and Curtiss' milkweed.
Great Trail System
Situated behind the Deltona library, the Preserve has three distinct linked trails. At the library, pick up an information booklet that gives great information for numbered trail stops, explaining the ecosystem and its inhabitants. The first trail (and shortest) is the Rusty Lyonia Trail; next is the Red Root Trail and the longest is the Blueberry Trail.
