I wouldn't trust these people with my pet rock 2/9/2012

Stay away from these guys if you value your pet's life. If I could give White Rock Animal Hospital a lower rating than 1 star I would. My son called them back on Jan. 30th because he needed to board his 6 month old puppy for a day while tending to his father at the hospital in Houston for a knee replacement. When he arrived at the boarding place the owner inquired as to whether or not Bandit had been vaccinated for kennel cough. The owner had a vet across the street who would administer it for $35 if Bandit had not been vaccinated. White Rock had been administering all of Bandit's vaccinations so my son called them to find out. ""Oh, yes,"" they said."" Bandit was vaccinated for bordetella.."" Well a few days after being boarded, Bandit started with a cough. My son called White Rock back to verify that the vaccination had been given. They checked the records again, and in fact, ""No"" the vaccination had not been given. So my son took Bandti into White Rock and they charged him $160. $60 for an office visit. $60 for the antibiotic. And $40 for cough medicine. This could have been avoided with correct information when asked about the vaccination in the first place and a $35 shot at the kennel. When My son brought this up to them, the response was absolutely no acceptance of any responsibility what so ever. They said, they weren't even sure that what Bandit had was bordetella. It could have been any other upper respiratory illness. And certainly the Vaccination MUST HAVE been given because that was standard treatment and it was probably a paperwork error. But if they had given correct information and the $35 vaccination had been given, there would have been no need to go see White Rock at get Ripped Off for $160. more

great vets! 8/3/2008

Very caring and knowledgable staff, from front counter to both vets. We've been going there for 11 years, and although there are other vets that are closer, it's worth the trip. Pros: very stable staff; friendly and responsive more

No better vet in East Dallas 9/29/2007

Dr. Hawthorn has cared for our pets for 20 years. Highly skilled. Not the cheapest vet you will find, but very personable, knows what he is doing, and I have never felt that he upsold or added unnecessary services. Pros: Highly knowledgeable vets Cons: not the best part of town more

  • At White Rock Animal Hospital, we do not require your pet to have an appointment to be seen during regular office hours. Drop-offs are encouraged, as it gives our staff time to fully evaluate your pet's medical issues and complete all necessary procedures that are indicated.

We are happy to schedule you an appointment if you work better on a schedule. Our only required appointments are for surgical procedures, extended diagnostic testing, radiographs, EKG, certain laboratory tests, or biochemical assays. These appointments are needed to give our staff plenty of time to complete the procedures and have time for doctor interpretation and review before dismissal.
