The Wheel Inn is quite possibly the one place that everyone in St. Johns eats. The menu offers breakfast, lunch and dinner options at any time with a good variety of both meals and snacks/desserts. The quality of food is all over the map, though. For instance, I think that their chicken fingers dinner merits five stars, whereas my husband once ordered a steak that was more of a two star affair. Salads are a bit skimpy, but then this is a place you go for comfort food rather than a diet plate. The rolls they offer with dinners or for sale individually are great, and the warm cinnamon roll is a little-known breakfast treat that's big enough for two. They offer breakfast
The city of St. Johns shuts down for the night early, but The Wheel Inn is the rare place open 24 hours a day, all but a few holidays a year. So if you decide to give in to your late night cravings between midnight and 2 a.m. on Friday or Saturday expect long waits and noisy diners. But the waitresses do the best they can in situations like that, and most other times the service is great.
The decor used to be stuck in the 70s, but some recent remodeling looks to be sprucing the place up a bit.
