Generator Repair 9/18/2011

Terrible, terrible, terrible. Believe me, don't believe me, its your call. On a Tuesday I was told ""end of the week"", then needs new carb, had old gas etc. Neither of which is true, I know it needed a cleaning ONLY but didn't have the rubber O ring to re seal it so I took it to these guys. The gas was straight from the tank one month earlier. It needed to be cleaned, a new plug and check the shut off valve ONLY. 16 days later and they're still ""waiting on the part"". I checked the model and ship time online and I could have a new carb for it in two days. Terrible customer ""dis"" service...its to the point where I can't get one person who works there to answer the phone...as in 5 attempts in two days...its almost its own sitcom at this point. No message, No voice mail? Must be nice to be the only game in a small town. I read the reviews and ONLY went here because it was close by. The joker who wrote the ONE glowing review was obviously the owner...and isn't it funny he says ""there's nothing they can't fix"". Well how 'bout generators buddy, because they can't seem to fix them or even get a part as a service provider! I'm going down to see them in person TOMORROW and if they don't have the carbeurator installed I'm leaving with the generator and I'll be sure to post how that whole episode goes if this nonsense continues. Again, terrible, terrible, terrible and understand in this economy I wouldn't want to cost anyone business but at the same time, YOU need to know when a company has this level of incompetence. Old gas, needs a carb, two weeks can't get the part and no one answers the phone. But ""they have a customer for life"". If the owner is going to post on behalf of the Mickey Mouse repair club, he should at least take the time to make it a bit more realistic....everyone else says they're the worst except this one ""mystery customer"". Save yourself the aggrevation....just awful in every way. more

Westport Lawn & Garden 7/7/2011

I puchased a Poulan leaf blower on May 5th and it required service on May 21st. I was directed by Poulan to bring it to Westport Lawn and Garden as they were an authorized service center. I had run this blower for a total of not more than 15 seconds upon purchase and it ran fine. Two weeks later it would not start. When I dropped it off at Westport Lawn and Garden, a clerk loudly proclaimed: "" Warranty work is a six week minimum! "". That was fine with me and they did call on July 7th, informing me it was ready for pickup. I went to pick it up and was told the bill for the repair would be $54. They further stated the carburator was gummed up and I had run ""bad gas"" in the blower. I had mixed a gallon of fresh gas with the container of two-stroke oil that came with the blower. As a matter of fact, I had run the remainder of the fuel mixture through my Poulan chain saw and a Homelite leaf blower with no issue at all. If the gas had indeed ""gummed up the carburator"" it happened while the blower sat on their shelf. I don't believe the fuel was at issue at all. I'm sure Westport Lawn and Garden has delt with warranty issues the same way and with very lucrative results in most cases. At any rate....they are holding the blower and I have little more than some hard-won experience. I did not pay the $54 dollars. more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE 5/26/2011

I would rate at less than one star if I could. I would not give them the time of day. After three days - they could not find time to put a tube in a riding lawn mower time. I 30 minute job at best. The man behind the counter said to a customer that if planned to blow him off quickly - to another customer in the store. I told the man behind the counter that I had a 1 hour round trip to the store - three trips later they still could not do the 20 minute job. I will tell every one I know NOT to go there. more
