A Hidden Treasure 9/3/2011

Thank you for more than two great years as a Westgate Tenant.\r \r You (David) are the model property manager, and i have appreciated having had the opportunity to know you. I will continue to recommend Westgate to friends and acquaintances whenever they are looking for housing in San Antonio.\r \r Most people (myself included), usually only take the time to write when they have complaints but if anyone deserves to be commended, it's you David.\r \r Again thanks for providing the best tenant experience i've ever had. If i weren't leaving San Antonio, I would be renewing my lease once again --- without question. more

wonderful place to live 5/21/2010

Best-Kept Secret' \r From: FinalStrife7 \r Date posted: 5/21/2010 \r Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2010 \r \r Having lived here almost three years, here is my unabashed review.\r \r Parking seems adequate, though I don't have a car so my perspective is skewed. This is an incredibly safe neighborhood so many choose to leave their cars at curbs. I've never known of any problems. This is not a neighborhood with bars on the windows.\r \r Noise is taken very seriously here, and the tranquility is a large part of why I love it here so much. Noise complaints are investigated extremely promptly and, as they make sure to inform you when you visit, domestic disturbance is grounds for immediate eviction. I've had one noise problem--turned out the guy's subwoofer was in the apartment next to my then-apartment (efficiency) just on the other side of the wall, not more than five feet away from where my head slept. I politely asked him to turn it down, but it must have been unnecessary because he wasn't there for much longer.\r \r This place is from the 70s, if memory serves, and aesthetically gets better every week. Five or so years ago, I believe, this place used to be a real heap, so that it's been taken over and renovated to where it is now is incredible. The maintenance team (one of whom is the main operator and 10% owner) just last week repaved all the asphalt in the complex themselves. Trash is never a problem in walkways, and laundry rooms are sufficiently maintained.\r \r As said before, the two maintenance guys (one of whom is the manager) are top-notch. They both live on the premises and are up at the crack of dawn working on either repairs or improvements. Changing carpet for wood panel. Planting flowers. Repairing door frames. Fixing leaks. And much more that, I have no doubt, goes on unseen. Manager's always a phone call away so any problems are dealt with ASAP. I've locked myself out twice and, despite the late, late hour, manager was there within seconds.\r \r Staff consists of the aforementioned maintenance guys, and a secondary assistant-office manager (who also lives on the premises) who does some of the more clerical work: delivering notes, doing paperwork, and delivering messages. I've always treated all three guys (as far as I know) with courtesy, respect, and cordiality, and I have received likewise in return. Going to be a couple days late with rent' Call the manager and apologetically let him know, and if you've held up your end of the cause-no-trouble bargain, he'll let it slide this time, no problem. Have a question' They have an answer. As to the previous poster's comments: every document, every utility bill, every money order is photocopied by the manager, so records can be reviewed to determine discrepancies.\r \r A life-long resident of San Antonio with no car, this place is almost perfect. It's on Broadway which means it's on three major bus lines, all of which run the 5-10 minutes south to downtown. One of the buses runs north-east to a Walmart, the other two run north to the Quarry, and all three run up and down Broadway past all the restaurants, stores, and an HEB Central Market. A 24-hour gas station is within walking distance, as is an independently-owned pizza shop that delivers Su-Th til 1:30am and Fri-Sat til 2:30am (a boon to us service industry folk). Very close to Incarnate Word, Trinity, and SAC. Butts up against Ft. Sam, which isn't a problem, but the high volume of military tenants combined with school year changes means you won't really see too many repeated faces. Brackenridge Park is a 6-minute walk, so runners/cyclists can have their jogging tracks, and kids can have their playground. Multiple bookstores within walking distance.\r \r All in all, I'm leaving the complex because I'm leaving the city. Should I ever need a San Antonio apartment again, I will definitely find my way back. If you don't mind some quirkiness, this place is totally for you. \r Pros: too many to list Cons: very few more

((((WARING RETIRED VETS)))) 6/6/2009

""Cramming"" is the practice of placing unauthorized, misleading, or deceptive charges on your utility bill. Crammers rely on confusing utility bills in an attempt to trick consumers into paying for services they did not authorize or receive, or that cost more than the consumer was led to believe. these people take advantage on retired military (veterans/elders) I have spoken to my congressman of who I know. these 2 veterans have been living here for four yrs and have a long file.this is no drama here but the truth and what happing here is this person is on a campaign with new comers.we are going to expose this person(s). The apt manager has a motorcycle shop under apts and is very noisy and produces lots of smoke. Pros: LOTS OF MOTORCYCLE NOISE Cons: CRAMING (utilitys biliing) more

It's All Good 4/9/2009

I've lived here for over 2 years and I've been taken care of whenever I have A/C or plumbing problems. The complex is nice and quiet for an apartment complex. The location is great. Thanks Pros: They take good care of you. Quiet. Safe area Cons: It's all good more

I've been happy 10/5/2008

Time to move on. Buying a house. I've lived here for over 1 year. In the year improvements keep happening. When I've had a problem, it gets taken care of. The place is always clean. The pool is great. It is very quiet. I even had my air conditioning fixed on a Sunday. I've been happy Pros: too much to say Cons: its not a house. I wanted a house of my own and now I have one more

loved this place 5/22/2008

in the short span of time that my family and i lived here, we came to love the place. never had any problems. staff were helpful. whenever we had issues, they take care of it asap. too bad i had a pcs to fort hood. but if given the chance to move back to fort sam, i would definitely choose to live in the same place again. place was peaceful. and most of all, they are very military friendly. the place is conveniently located near shopping and of course just right outside the gate of fort sam. they just recently had a change of management, so everything has changed. i heard about bad feedbacks (that was with the old management though). New management have been beautifying the place all the time. They cleaned the pool almost everday and painted the building. To sum it all up, our stay there was awesome. It is indeed a good place to call home. (Cessna Marie APT208)\r Pros: parking, service, ambience, staff, more
