Mission Statement:
The Mission of Wesley United Methodist Church is to make disciples for Jesus Christ through our open hearts, open minds and open doors.
History and Vision:
Organized in 1956 in the old Christian Church building at the corner of Trotter and New Madrid, we've been housed with the American Legion and a building at the airport before moving to our current location in 1963. In 1966 we added on to provide extra classroom and office space, and our Family Life Center was completed in 1989.
We seek to become the church God wants us to be, as we nurture our members into becoming disciples for Christ, reach out to others in word and deed, and witness to the Holy Spirit's presence in our church and in our lives.
Safe Sanctuaries Policy:
It is the policy of the United Methodist Church and our mandate as concerned Christians the Wesley United Methodist Church is a place where everyone can feel safe. This means background checks for all who c are for our children and youth (from the pastor through Sunday School teachers / helpers) and an open door policy in all classrooms with two adults in the area where children and youth are present. A complete copy of our promise is available here.. Worship at WESLEY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
Saturday New Heart Worship:
Shepherd?s Chapel, accessible from either the Sanctuary or Fellowship #2,is also open any time the church is open for prayer and meditation. Created in honor of Dr. and Mrs. Leo Bruce by their daughters, there are soft lights, kneelers and a Bible,as well as other devotional materials.
Dress or Attire:
Though you'll probably see a dress or a tie on Sunday morning you may also see T-shirts and jeans. Your presence is more important to us than your appearance. Besides, didn't the pastor wear clown makeup a while ago on Sunday morning?
Coffee Break:
Come join us on Sunday mornings in Fellowship #2 at 9:00 AM as we gather for an informal start to the day around a good cup of coffee and pastries or other goodies.
Sunday School :
Adult Classes start at 9:30 AM Sunday with group devotions and gospel singing in Fellowship # 1
