Eudora Welty Library, the headquarters of the Jackson-Hinds Library System, is closed indefinitely. The excuse is a small fire that occurred in a back closet somewhere in the summer of 2008. The fire did not spread, but hopefully they are taking this time to renovate the building. Before it closed, the unmistakable smell of raw sewage would assail your nostrils the moment you stepped in the door. As for selection, the variety is great, plus they have the requisite interlibrary loan system. You can still use the other branches of this library and have books from this branch retrieved for you through the interlibrary loan system.
Pros: Great Selection
Cons: Building is Closed [which might be a PRO instead of a CON, given the smell]
