Web Locker Restaurant

Good: Overall quality of food is good, service is fast and the waitstaff friendly. Bad: Gone "upscale" - not the same atmosphere as it used to have before the Marina remodel and its relocation - but then, my taste runs more blue-collar. Improvements: Missing the huge slabs of fresh fish in the fish-and-chips, the enormous burger (1 lb.!), prices a fisherman on a budget could afford. Other: When Squalicum had a fishing fleet, this was the place to be when in port - bottomless coffee, simple food but well-prepared and a lot of it for the price. Not anymore - as the harbor became primarily a Marina, the Web Locker became a more yuppiefied place. Prices went up, the fish isn't local anymore (well, perhaps not much can be done about that), and the famously-huge hamburger (with a fried egg and salami topping, no less) is gone. Oh well. They have great coffee and the fries are excellent. more

New owners have spruced the place up with nautical memorabilia. The food remains as good or better than it ever was. This is my place of choice when I am at the harbor. more

I am not kidding, this place serves up a bowl of chowder chock full of clam, bacon, and a few potatoes. It goes great on a cold rainy day. They also have good burgers, though a bit messy. The daily special is usually worth the price, a burger with fries and a drink. Fish and Chips, Sandwiches, and Chili round out the lunch menu. They also have a good breakfast menu. more
