60 years over 20 Animals No Other Vet would do 12/25/2014

No matter how far I would have to drive I would get to Dr. Smith to have her treat my animals. I have mostly had cats, but a couple adopted dogs with numerous problems, some of the felines were feral, and besides treating the animals, she will take time out to talk to you on the phone and answer questions you may have, no matter how ignorant your question may be. I hope I no longer have animals in my life, before she quits treating animals. That will be a sad day for all animals!! And hazardous to their health when she is gone....... S Ripp more

excellent vet - compassionate and smart 10/8/2011

Dr. Smith has cared for all of our pets for over 20 years. She managed our lab with renal issues expertly. She sees us quickly when the need is urgent. Additionally, my cousin and my mother travel over 30 miles to come to the Waterloo vet clinic. The staff are all lovely too. Friendly and helpful. more

A good vet! 1/18/2010

Dr. Smith has done a wonderful job caring for my pets. We had an issue with one dog that was hard to determine exactly what the problem was, and Dr. Smith did the proper tests and treatments to clear it up quickly. I am happy to take my dog there, and would never blame her for a problem with a recommended drug that turned out to be bad. After all, the same thing happens with HUMAN drugs sometimes! Not the doc's fault! Blame the manufacturer! more

We LOVE Dr. Barb & Waterloo Vet Clinic! 1/3/2010

Dr. Barbara Smith is the veterinarian for our family pet. She came to us highly recommended and takes wonderful care of our first and only family pet. Not only do I value her judgment, but my children love the TLC that she gives our pet. more

IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET YOU WILL STAY AWAY FROM BARBARA SMITH. Stay far away from this unscrupulous veterinarian. Three years ago she gave my dog and new heartworm vaccination without even checking the heartworm test results. After finding he was hw positive she suggested treatment. In the end my dog died because of the heartworm product, PROHEART 6 by Ft. Dodge/Wyeth (it has since been pulled from the shelves) and the negligence of Barbara Smith. When she was contacted she took no responsibility for her error that resulted in the death of my dog. She hid behind the gag order that was placed on me by Ft. Dodge/Wyeth Company.
