It started off great. It was close to work and great restaurants, and the people were friendly. I was 6 months pregnant when we moved in, and the staff asked after my baby often. Things changed just before my daughter was born. The plumbing at the complex is old and rotten, and the water was turned off multiple times a month, starting in June. It's really hard to get through a summer with a new baby when the water is unreliable. At the end of June (remember, this is the summer of 100 days of 100+ degrees), our AC started breaking. We were calling maintenance every single day. It got so bad that we had to take our brand new baby to a hotel because it was too hot for her to safely remain in the apartment. At the end of August they finally replaced the AC. In December I started hearing noises in the walls. When the pest control finally came (in January!) it was discovered that they were raccoons. Traps were set, but they were the wrong size. The traps were changed, but didn't work. To this day, there are raccoons in my walls. When I wanted to move to a raccoon-free apartment, I was told I would have to pay an additional $50/month, which is in violation of Texas law.
The apartment ownership changed in about October, and which is when the water started to be shut off on an almost weekly basis. The new owners do seem to care about the state of the complex and have been doing massive construction to replace all of the porches and siding, as it was all rotten. However, the owners and management have been terrible at dealing with safety concerns of residents, and their only goal is to extort money. I am currently in the midst of a lawsuit with both parties due to their negligence damaging my daughter's health and safety.
