(Some) Good Vets, Bad Front Desk 2/9/2014

Have been regular cat clients for more than 20 years because there are several great vets here- *but* you have to know which and specify them when making appointment. Front Desk staff very often hostile and give bad medical advice, when they have no proper training to give medical advice at all. Example- cat had infected toenail. As a nurse, my inclination was to soak in betadine solution. Desk staff said NO, do not soak, that would make it worse. After an expensive visit with Dr Bowman, what does he say? To soak in betadine or another solution, which I'd never heard of. Alas he did not write down any instructions. Usually one gets post-visit care instructions printed out along with receipt but none for this visit. So, when I went to pharmacy to buy the right soaking solution, I did not have name of stuff nor instructions for dilution, or frequency & duration of use (which he never mentioned during visit). I called clinic over and over and no one would return call. He called a day later and was ANGRY and said he was too busy to provide any printed care instructions. Ridiculous. Most human & vet clinics have pre-fab instructions for various conditions & a clerk just hits a button and prints it out. (If I'd known I was not going to get any at end of visit, I simply would've taken notes- he must have seen that I was not, did he think I would memorize it when he didn't even say how often & for how long?)) I ended up just using betadine and my own medical knowledge, after paying $180. Also, issues with care of elderly cat with heart failure- they never asked if I wanted very expensive tests and procedures done before doing them, $2500 bill for incurable and soon to be fatal condition- I might well have made a different choice if I had been offered one. more

Excellent Service 11/22/2005

I had an emergency and I had to bring my pet in to see a vet. The people at Pets Unlimited made me feel comfortable about coming in and the prices were reasonable considering this was an emergency. The vet, the pharmacist, the front desk staff, as well as the tech were professional and friendly and I really felt like my cat was in good hands. I would suggest anybody looking to adopt should contact them and continue receiving vet services from Pets Unlimited. Thanks to the staff. My kittie is feeling much better! more

Pets Unlimited 8/3/2005

Pets Unlimited is a great pet store. They sell feed and housing and toys and other things for pets. They sell stuff for all kinds of pets: birds, dogs, cats, fish, hermit crabs, hamsters, mice, rats, snakes. They also sell pets. Sometimes they have the cutest kittens! I love looking at those. They also have hamsters and mice an rats. Fish are also available in many different variaties. Hermit crabs too. Parking is always availble since not many people are at the store at the same time. It is very well located next to railroad tracks and next to a Fosters Freeze! more
