Brett and I want to thank you for being incredible and making our special day extra special! The gorgeous Pronovias wedding gown, silk veil, crystal hair piece and all four of my bridesmaids looked absolutely stunning!!! All thanks to you! I still hear comments from different people about how classy we all looked on my wedding day! Some relatives of Brett even said that ours was the most elegant and classy wedding they have ever attended! Everyone at this place was very professional, double checked checked my measurements and sizes before we ordered, and made length changes as we needed them without any issues. My bridesmaids looked gorgeous too in their French Tiffany chiffon floor length dresses in midnight blue. Everyone was in awe how beautiful they all looked. We want to thank the owner of Nashville Village Bridals for helping make our special day extraordinary, and dressing all of us in style! Thank you. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/10/2013

All four bridesmaids, including myself, wore a beautiful dark blue Jasmine Belsoie gown at my sister's wedding back in April. The dress was floor length, strapless and made of chiffon. Loved the color! Dress style fit all of us and looked very flattering. I had to make some alterations around the top of the dress as it was a little bit bigger than I needed, but it fit perfectly everywhere else. We have decided to go with this dress because the dress can be easily changed from floor to knee length, which I am planning on doing myself. This is best feature of this dress, because I hate buying dresses that I can wear only once :) Now I will have a perfect cute coctail dress that I will be able to wear multiple times. I highly recommend Nashville Village Bridal for bridesmaid dresses selection as this bridal shop has a lot of choices to pick from and the owner is very nice and helpful. I will be coming back to this store for any future special ocassion dress shopping. more

I initially had a great experience buying my dress at Village Bridal. I was in love with my dress and the owner was so nice! That all changed when the dress came in an alterations began. The dress was way too short for my torso and my breasts would come up out of my dress every time I raised my arms. They never measured my torso when purchasing the dress, and turns out I either needed a different size or a different dress entirely as this DID NOT FIT my body type. The seamstress was pushy and not helpful. She did not have any suggestions as to how to fix the dress other than just not to raise my arms all night. SEVERAL alterations appointments later and 1 week before my wedding I decided to take my dress to another seamstress and pay a rush order (as much as the original dress cost) to get my dress fixed! The seamstress at Village Bridal had done alterations incorrectly as well- I had already paid her to take the dress in, but the new seamstress had to take the dress in an additional inch and a half!!!!!! She also had to further hem the dress which I had already paid the Village Bridal seamstress to do. Those are pretty basic alterations if you ask me. And I never received a refund or apology. Do not trust the seamstress at Village Bridal!!!! Ended up costing me a lot of stress, time, and money!\r \r \r Review other places you've been to\r \r \r \r \r Review\r \r \r \r \r \r \r Tennessee Women's Care PC: Morgan Lisa B MD\r \r From search history\r \r \r \r Review more

This place was absolutely terrible!!! They ruined my dress and then tried to blame it on me, the bride, saying I had gained weight and that the dress was difficult to work with! I bought my dress at a shop out of state but they carried the designer so I thought that their alterations lady could handle it. She definitely couldn't!! By the end of my SIX different fiitings, my dress was 2.5 inches shorter (when it was already a perfect length) and have a huge fold at my waist. And now they are still refusing to refund us for the cost of the alterations and the cost of the dress. more

This was the first shop I went to after getting engaged, and I didn't have an appointment. I literally just wanted to look, but apparently that was not appreciated. There was no one else in the shop, and they made it seem like they were doing me a favor even letting me look. Then I had to go through each dress with a woman who literally waited for me to react to each dress, and I do not like being put on the spot. Super nerve racking. They were rude, made me feel embarrassed, and were speaking in Russian and LAUGHING in the back when I was getting dressed. FYI Girls: I could hear you. I had such a rough time. It was a nighmare experience. more

Disastrous experience 11/25/2011

The nightmare started when Village Bridal measured my daughter for a dress that they ordered for her at the shop. When the dress came in it was very apparent that they had botched the measurements because the torso was a foot longer than it should have been. The waistline fell somewhere on her hips, etc. At this point it was too late to reorder another dress and we were assured the dress could be altered so we did not seek compensation for the dress. Upon completion of alterations the dress was returned to us in horrible condition: the lining no longer laid flat under lace overlay; there was black grease on the lining from the sewing machine; the dress was completely askew and did not hang straight any longer. WARNING: DO NOT TRUST YOUR SPECIAL MEMORIES WITH THIS STORE!! more

I am the New Owner of Village Bridal! 7/9/2011

Hello Everyone, My name is Margaret Veness and I am the new owner of Village Bridal. I worked here for almost six years and recently had the opportunity to purchase the bridal shop. I knew the dresses were beautiful and that I wanted to continue to carry world class designers like Pronovias, Watters and Watters, Nicole Miller, and Manuel Mota. But I also knew that the heart of any high-end boutique is customer service and if given the chance I would make customer service my number one priority. In fact, many of the positive reviews about Village Bridal on CitySearch are about me as an employee. And now as the new owner I have the unique opportunity to demonstrate that our customer service is now as world class as the dresses we carry. So if you are in need of a Bridal gown, bridesmaids dresses, ball gown, or a mother of the bride/groom dress, please come to the shop and experience not just the words, but the heart and actions of true customer service! more

She lied about the dress 6/10/2011

I was desperate for a dress after looking all over Nashville. I went to Village Bridal and was plesantly surprised at the selection of dresses. I had heard the service was bad, but wanted to check it out anyway. I was quickly informed me that I needed an appointment when I walked in the store, but my mom was with me and I'm pretty sure they were seeing dollar signs, so they ""allowed"" me to pull some dresses. Elizabeth, the owner, told me she was the dress designer and the majority of the dresses were her original designs. more

See a review over 1 star? Must be fake! 5/5/2011

Either fake, or the bride had a diamond the size of a ring pop when she walked through the door. After experiencing the EXACT. SAME. THINGS. as the majority of... heck! must be all of the REAL reviews on this place, I have to say, the woman is ridiculous. I've lived overseas. In Europe. Being a ""European business woman"" as some snotty chick put on here, is NOT an excuse for no holds barred RUDENESS. more

Not in a million years! 3/4/2011

I will not set foot in that dump for a million dollars. I will not go in there, even if they beg me. Not in a million years! more

Rude Owner! 8/20/2009

We went to our scheduled appointment and have never been treated so rudely! The owner made several insulting remarks to my daughter. She was very pushy and kept insisting she put on dresses that were not even her style while not paying attention to what my daughter wanted. I've heard people try to explain away the owner's attitude because of her nationality, but rude with an accent is still rude!! I would never recommend this place to anyone and really don't know how they are still in business. more

Excellent Service 8/14/2009

I went into village bridal on the recommendation of a friend of a friend. My mother, MOH, Event planner were with me. We had no appointment. Nor had we called. Elizabeth was waiting on another bride, but said she would be right with us. I looked at dresses just knowing I would see the perfect dress and I did right away... Elizabeth and I talked about the wedding, our style and what I wanted... she set the ""perfect"" dress aside and we continued to look. I narrowed my search to 10 dresses. Waiting for the perfect dress to try on last. To my surprise, the perfect dress was ""passe, too fru fru and very heavy""... elizabeth was not surprised as she realized I had a stomach I wasn't happy with.. she gently steered me to what was the perfect dress.. of course for a 47 yr. in the middle of a hot flash anything short of a iced down mini dress would not do!... She found me a beautiful light (in weight), unique in color, hey I am more mature... appropriate and beautiful dress. The dress covered my ""tummy concern"" and with she and Irene (the tailor)'s eye and sewing skills concealed it even more. I did not want strapless and she completely redid the top into a very original design perfect for me. She explained all the altering fees in advance so I was not surprised. I did two final fittings in one day which was perfect for me since I live 1.5 hours away... I would recommend village highly..I would also suggest making an appointment when Elizabeth will be there and isn't already scheduled. Also, she is direct with her customers.. I wanted honesty not a lie in order to sell a dress. If you don't look good.. she will try her best to steer you to another style or offer alteration suggestions. For me this was one of her best assets... Pros: knowledgeable, nice, great selection, talented Cons: need more places to sit while waiting more

Terrible Place 5/29/2009

I went into Village Bridal on my way to workout one day. I was wearing workout clothing, but it was VERY clear that the owner would never deal with riff-raff like me, and that if I wasn't wearing a Versace dress and didn't have on a $50K engagement ring on, then I shouldn't be bothering her in her store. I ended up buying my beautiful $4K dress from Faccio Bridal in Franklin, where I'm treated amazing regardless if I'm wearings sweats, workout clothing, or anything else. Do not go to Village Bridal if you want to have a pleasant experience. Pros: None that I could tell Cons: Rude, Rude, Rude more

Incredibly Rude - Makes you feel terrible 5/29/2009

I signed up for a Citysearch account just so that I could leave this review and wish I could leave a 'zero' The owner, or perhaps it is just an employee, of this store is incredibly rude! I am getting married in September and my mom was visiting from out of town. I had driven by Village Bridal many, many times but had never been in. We decided to stop in and look. When we walked in no one was in the front of the store. I said ""hi!"" so that someone in the back could hear me, and then my mom and I made comments about how pretty some of the items were. Finally a woman from the back came out and said to us very tersely, ""What do you want?"" We replied we were interested in looking at some items and the woman shot back, ""AND?"" She continued to just stand there looking at us incredulously until we backed out of the store. It was a very odd and rude experience. If you are looking for a place that will make you feel special, this is not it. If you are looking for a place where someone treats you like a normal person and is even vaguely polite, this is also not the place. Cons: Rude owner, bad customer service more

Mixed feelings 5/7/2009

I have mixed feelings about this place. I did try on several dresses at other places and thought I knew what I wanted. When I walked into Village Bridal, she put all these dresses in the dressing room for me that I normally would not pick out myself. I ended up with the perfect dress. She knew exactly what would look good on me. However, I noticed a stain on the one I tried on, but no big deal, I was getting one special ordered from Italy. But, when I came back 6 months later to try on my ""new"" dress...I noticed the same stain. BTW...I had to call her, she never called me to tell me it was in. When I went in to see my new dress, I noticed the same stain in the same spot. I really didn't think about it until later. So I called the store and spoke to her or the other lady there and she insisted she ordered a new one. When I went back, the stain was gone. So I do think I was ripped off, but I loved the dress and there was only a few months til the wedding. But she did a wonderful job altering it. It was too big and she made it fit like a glove. It was strapless, and I didn't have to worry about it falling down. I thought $200 was a little extreme, but nothing I could do. I loved my dress and got lots of compliments. I think her culture makes it difficult to relate to her though, and understand what she is saying. I would say check this place out, just be cautious. Pros: great alterations Cons: expensive more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! 4/19/2009

Let me first tell you I am not the person to write reviews, but I am still so upset and furious that I want to scream ""I hate village bridal"" to everyone in the world! I gave it one star because it wouldn't let me give 0! My first experience with Village Bridal was when I went over to see my best friends wedding dress being altered. She had already bought the dress, she was just in to be fitted. Days later, my friend had told me village bridal was giving them a discount if all the bridesmaids dresses were purchased there. My friend's mother insisted on picking the dresses there, and thus, picked out the dresses the bridesmaids were wearing. All we needed to do was be fitted for our sizes and then we would get the dresses. I went in for my fitting and waited at least 20 minutes. She acknowledged me, but only because I approached her and asked her what was taking so long. I simply needed my measurements taken, how hard and time consuming is that? I got my measurements and she ""happened to have my size of that dress in the store."" I tried it on, and it was entirely too big. She insisted on me ordering that size, because she knew that it would fit once they were specially made and ordered. I took her advise, being that I assumed she knew what she was doing, and ordered the size she wrote me down for. Next thing I know, my friend, the bride, is calling me crying because the owner of Village Bridal got the dresses mixed up and was having all the bridesmaids fitted for the WRONG dress! My first thought was ""if you are in this business to sell dresses, shouldn't you make the effort to get the correct order!!??"" The owner was DAYS away from sending in the orders for the dresses! We all had to be refitted for the dresses, and didn't receive ONE apology from the owner, who made the mistake. She was so rude I could hardly even breathe. I would have exploded if the bride wasn't in the room for my new fitting. I kept trying to hold my cool because I knew my friend was already upset and didn't want to make her more upset about her wedding- dangerous territory! So about a few months later we get the dresses in, and I go to try it on with the bride. It is HUGE and of course the owner insisted that Village Bridal alter it! How convenient! I already spend $200 on the dress and she wants another $200 to have it altered! I DO NOT THINK SO! It was EXTREMELY unprofessional of the owner to insist on the particular size to fit me (not to mention she did the SAME thing for all of the other bridesmaids), and it arrives and it doesn't fit and it needs $200 of alterations for it! Not only was I FURIOUS from her completely manipulating and taking advantage of me, the bride, and ALL of the 8 bridesmaids, but the dresses were THE WRONG COLOR! When I came out the bride was practically in tears saying IN FRONT OF THE STORE OWNER that it wasn't the right color and it isn't what she wanted! The owner did not say ONE word except that ""it's beautiful""- her most favorite, and overused, phrase that she said to everyone in order for them to buy something from her. Avoid this place at all costs! Everything is overpriced, and the only interest the owner has is to sell you a dress and to make as much profit from you as possible. She has no interest in her customers and their satisfaction. She is rude, pushy, and is very transparent in the fact that she doesn't care about anything but making money- the WRONG attitude for selling WEDDING dresses! Pros: nice dresses Cons: VERY poor management, customer service, and WAY overpriced! more

overall good expereince 4/5/2009

I purchased my Pronovias dress from Village Bridal at their sample sale last summer. It was the perfect dress but several sizes too large . They were able to take in the dress to fit me perfectly while maintaining the integrity of the gown The sale price, plus the alterations, veil and shoes ended up being less than the original cost of the dress. Like many other reviewers have noted, the owners do not keep the manufacturer's tags on the dresses, and even after I bought the dress I still was not given the gown id number. After some extensive searching, I was able to find my gown online to compare the sale price I paid, which fortunately was less than anything I found online. However, I do think their non-sale prices are a little higher than you might find at other bridal shops for the same brand. The owner and employees were polite and professional, with one exception...when I went in for my last fitting, they had not finished the final alterations and failed to call me to tell me not to come in. Since I work close to VB it was not a huge inconvenience, but I still would have appreciated them calling so I would not have had to leave work early and waste a trip. Other than that, I really enjoyed my experience and am thrilled with my gown. Pros: unique dress selection, great alterations Cons: don't leave manufacturer tags on dresses more

""Its not the dress.... its you."" 3/28/2009

Let me start off by saying that I do not normally write reviews, but this place is so terrible that I want to warn everyone else before they get sucked in too deep. I am graduating from High School this year, so it is absolutely necessary that I have the perfect dress. My friend ordered her dress from here, so I thought it was safe to look around. Of course I find the perfect dress and she took my measurements and said she would order it. We paid and the owner seemed just as excited that I had found something great. Everything looked like it was perfect! Today, after waiting 5 months, I was told I could come try the dress on. I was soooo excited. Right off the bat, as soon as I walked in, she was rude. She ignored me and my mom, and we had to wait for a long time before she would let me try on the dress. First off I noticed something- the dress was supposed to be ivory- it was pretty much snow white though. I thought I could just live with it, and put the dress on. It was a nightmare. The dress was about 4 sizes to big- even after she claimed she ordered it to fit my size (not kidding...it was a 10, or so the tag said). It was lumpy and looked really cheap (keep in mind we did spend $350 on the dress). I was extremely disatisfied and voiced that to her. She FLIPPED OUT. She told me (and i quote) ""It is not the dress...it is you. No dress will look good on you, so you just have to live with it."" She then went on to tell us that it was a beautiful dress and that I am a terrible person for not liking it. Then she told me I would need spanx to look good in any dress and to lose some weight (""See you, unlike me, have a waist, so you just have to deal with it""). I AM A SIZE 2 or 4. She lectured us for about 20 minutes, and when I was finally allowed to change- the whole time I was gone, she lectured my mom telling her that she needs to lie to me and tell me that I look good so that Im ""not as picky"" with my dresses. She also told us that there's nothing she can do.. and she will have to alter it and enormous expense. I left the store (in tears) and don't think I ever want to step foot in there again. My dad is going to pick up the dress this afternoon where I am taking it to my own alterationist who will have to basically remake the dress. DO NOT GO HERE. Pros: A lot of dresses! Cons: Everything else. more

The Perfect Dress 3/13/2009

I purchased my dress and veil from Village Bridal. I have read the other reviews, but I have to say, Elizabeth was nothing but helpful to me. I went in last fall and had no idea what style of dress I wanted. She let me choose everything I wanted to try and helped zip and unzip. She really knows dresses and what is best for each body shape. She is blunt about telling you, so if you can face the truth, you will be fine. The alterations were much more than what she quoted me and I know I overpaid, but I needed a place that I could trust to get the job done right. She was excellent. She is very picky about making sure it fit perfectly. I was very happy with my purchase! She even took a few hours to help my mother find a dress and believe me, it's not easy! She didn't find what she was looking for, but Elizabeth was helpful. I also searched for a bridesmaid dress and although I didn't find what I was looking for, Elizabeth was never rude about it. Although it's not a deep discount store, I would recommend at least taking a look. You never know where you will find that perfect dress. If all else, you will leave knowing what styles flatter you best! Pros: She knows flattering styles, helpful, and a perfectionist. Cons: Pricey - you can probably find it cheaper, I just don't know where. more
