Went in a group of 6 and tasted each other's dishes. The bean soup was just a big bowl of beans and water. The lobster ravioli...almost couldn't find the lobster. We use to go to Via Della Pace twice a week or more a couple of years ago when they still had an Italian Chef. Then, what a mistake, we decided to go back on a friday night to really get disappointed: Here is the young and inexperienced new staff and vibes to ""welcome"" our party of 4: A very loud,hyper and rude young manager from Rome that works as bartender ( a note for the ownership; kind of odd for a manager to also work the bar...you figure!) He totally ignored us for long time wile was talking with his preferred group of ladies ( I swear he told us: ""you have to wait for your drinks, don't mind if I give a little more space to this ladies, look at you and look at them...how hot they are!. Insulting me and my party.) What's left genuinely Italian in Via Della Pace today?... not certainly the food that has changed so much; all our portions were really small for the price and the area, the pasta dishes were overcooked, flat and tasteless, the once great music selection has become atonal, ugly, boring, and uninspired (they were playing some funny european rap for the all dinner time) We all gave a big ""thumbs down"" to that place, and we wont go around that block anymore even if they change ownership and cuisine! A group of 4 of us enjoyed an excellent lunch at an outside table. Their side of the street is in the shade by noon, so it was really quite pleasant on an August day. All our food, bread, sandwiches and salads were very tasty and filling. We did not try any of their desserts as we were too full on seconds of bread! We had Pantheon salads (chicken), a chicken sandwich, a Romana bruschetta, and lasagne. The waitress checked on us just often enough. I love this place! Its very doggie friendly if you sit outside. The cute waiter even brought my dog a bowl of water. The bread is delicious and the brunch is awesome. If they would add an all you can drink mimosa special it would be perfect. Pros: cute, reasonable prices, good service Cons: no drink specials more

I had the best memories of this little italian cafe back in the late 80s. . But the once beautiful, skechy staff was replaced for the plain and flat help that didn't help much. The decor and ambience was nothing special anymore and by the time the waitress came to the table i was in bad mood so I decided to order a tiramisu.. The once delicious italian dessert was dry and with a lack of mascarpone. Then I realized that Via Della Pace is not the old Caffe Della Pace i used to love. I was tricked by the almost same name but i'm not planning to return again. more

Although iI were pleased that this packed restaurant was able to seat our group quickly, the food was very disappointing. I was the most disappointed with my dish -- the rigatoni --which was highly recommended by the waitress (who I now believe doesn't have taste buds). It's supposed to be a house specialty, but was very dry and lacked sauce. They tried to disguise the bland, lukewarm pasta with melted cheese on top, which was also flavorless. The lobster meat in the ravioli could've been more fresh and didn't need to be drowned in pink sauce -- too much!! My recommendation: The ambiance & sangria were pretty great, but not enough to pull you in. If you're in this part of town and craving affordable Italian, keep walking by Via Della Pace -- there's plenty of other places that have the full package of ambiance, wine & food... The best thing about this place is the atmosphere because you feel like you could be in Italy. The menu choices also make you feel that way, but the food is average. The paninis and salads are probably the best choices. We'll continue to go there because we live next door and it's a nice place to hang out and have some wine. The atmosphere is perfect. The dining room has a cozy feel to it with huge windows that let in a lot of natural light. The food is inexpensive, but overall quite good. There are a few misses on the menu though- not a very good pesto sauce. The tuna steak with spicy papaya sauce is amazing (as long as you have a taste for papaya). more

This place truly is well appointed. Cozy and dark, nice tudor/trattoria feel, festive and romantic ambience. Bread was great. Service was fine. Lasagna took forever, though, and it wasn't because the cooks were making it extra special. It was good, just not great. Pasta and cheese seemed a little reheated. My choice of Sangiovese by the glass was diluted and too sweet for my taste; but of course, that's the wine. Overall, recommended if you've got some time on your hands and you're not a picky Italian eater. Good menu and a fine desertif list. I have lived in Florence, and this restaurant transports you to Italy while dining. The tables are very close together, they use the Italian ""primi"" and ""secondi"" menu offerings, and their wine is top notch, but not overpriced. They have authentic wine choices like prosecco and wine from Abruzzi. I had the gnocchi special-- excellent. Just try to sit far form the door if it is cold outside. I went here for my birthday - I wanted a low key, close friends party and it was perfect! I had the lasagne, which was hearty, traditional, and delicious! They brought out a chocolate torte for my b-day...it was amazing. Great prices, lovely ambiance. It's a no-brainer! more
