Fine physical facility...outrageous prices 10/2/2009

Having been to the different locations for the emergency clinic over the years, it was nice to see a permanent well-appointed clinic.. However...although one knows that an emergency vet will be costly...this new place is outright astronomical. They would not even look at may animal until I had paid in excess of 1, 000...and they had not yet done an examination! I was able to pay...but MANY will not be...and they will be turned away. This makes me feel ill... The vet who purchased this emergency clinic also bought the one in Albuquerque...so he has a monopoly on the ONLY TWO emergency vets in the entire state of New Mexico. Not only that... I have been to vets in the US, Europe and Latin America, and have always said that vets are the nicest people in the world. But NOT the woman who attended me and my animal...I have never before had the misfortune to run into a vet so negative , and so downright nasty. She predicted dire things for my animal ( before examination!! and none of which came to pass!), and was downright nasty. I had family members with me, and they were as shocked and horrified as I was. Give me back the lesser facility, with MUCH nicer vets ( who were always very competent, BTW), and much more affordable prices. I am not faulting the care at this clinic... just the hugely high cost, and the nastiness. I sure wish there was an alternative. Pros: As above...a well-appointed clinic. Competent. Cons: So incredibly expensive that many pets will die... more

Excellent ER for Animals 9/12/2009

My family, unfortunately, needed the services of this essential business on a Friday night when my dog ate a very toxic substance. They treated her with an IV and tests to learn how badly she had been damaged and communicated with us at every turn. Without this clinic our dog would probably not live. It remains unclear whether she will or not even now, but we are extremely grateful for the sensitive and technologically advanced care she is being given as we speak. Yes they want up front payment and it isn't cheap, but my dog has a chance of surviving thanks to these caring people. I am extremely impressed with the service and Emergency Veterinary Clinic. It is a gift to all of us withing a 100 mile range for helping our animals after business hours. Pros: Only Emergency Animal Clinic in area Cons: Not cheap more

Santa Fe Emergency Veterianary Hospital 1/6/2009

One of my client directed me to this web site; telling me there were ""terrible reviews"" about this vet e-clinic.\r \r I read the one and only review, and I think the writer used a lot of women-hating terms (referring to the ""ugly females) and did not fairly or accurately describe the quality of medical care received there.\r \r I have professionally used this e-clinic for over 3 years and always found the care given after hours to my clients' pets to be superior. Is it expensive? Yes! It can be! Why? Think about and take into consideration the level of technology, equipment, cost of the building, premium after hours and ""grave shift"" salaries (not to metion the higher than average cost of doing business here in Santa Fe). \r \r There is not a one of us business owners getting filthy rich, especially in the animal business. Combine that with how hard we work, the levels of expectations that our clients expect from us, and the quality of the labor pool we draw upon here in Santa Fe............well: I can see where an ""off night"" could be observed there.\r \r I suggest that others NOT judge the fine work of this e-clinic from the previous reviewer's message, and tp please put everything in perspective. Veterianians and others that work those night hours with traumas and desparately ill pets and their distraught owners are angels on this earth! more

bottom of the barrel 11/16/2008

This place is a dysfunctional dump with some skeezy, dreary ugly females working there who are too busy backstabbing each other to be focused on their clients.A little vet tech training on some immature, losers causes a powder keg atmosphere while you wait there in the receptionist space to be insulted, coldly received, intimidated financially. An ugly female vet gets to feel all important as lackies, all who seem genderless work their ineptness on the animals and their clients. The bad reputation of this place was rampant, and going there gave great insight for a brilliant daughter who wants to be a vet. This place is a masterpiece of what you don't want.Great for lol anecdotes, film satire, and bringing it back home laughs. more
