e disperato! now best Czech cuisine in an Italian restaurant 11/30/2008

\r Vespa, which was an above average, independently-owned Italian restaurant, is no more.\r \r When we reserved by telephone, they gave no clue that it is now Klara's Czech-European-Italian restaurant.\r We are terrorized by hyphenated cuisines so we took flight to Biaggi's where we had good but not outstanding cuisine, a very nice wine list and excellent service.\r \r watch out for the hyphenated cuisine. Czech-European-Italian indeed! more

Great Intimate Setting 8/19/2008

I took my woman to this little slice of heaven for her birthday. Amazing and authentic Italian food on a streetside setting. The atmosphere was relaxed and open and somehow managed to avoid the smothering cloud of pretention that covers most of Cary. I must visit for a little old world culture and personality. Pros: Authentic and diverse menu. Location. Cons: Can be a little slow, but good dining shouldn't be rushed more

GREAT RESTAURANT!!!!!!!!! 12/4/2007

I highly recommend VESPA! Great location in down town Cary. Superior service, above and beyond expectations. Try the Chocolate Souffle, you'll love it. Also try the Seafood pasta and / or italian sausage pasta, you won't regret it. Romantic atmosphere... and the service adds to the romantic experience. \r \r FIVES STARS! more

Authetic Italian 8/25/2007

I am originally from NY and attempted this restaurant because of a 10% coupon that can be found at La Quinta hotels. The food was original and tasted great. The apps were over priced small but still the flavor stood out. The entree portion of the meal was a reasonable size and price. If you are looking for family style food this is not your place. I cleaned my plate clean and could not share. I had linguini with lobster. The linguini was made with squid very nice!\r The service was slow but it was nice to not be rushed. The place was dead on a Saturday night..I am not sure how they will survive without many customers. Not major complaints I would go again for a nice romantic very quiet evening. No reservations needed. It will be mostly empty.\r \r Also try the white wine named ""carmen"" very peachy with a sweet flavor.\r Pros: Quiet not rushed authetic. Cons: Apps are small and over priced. more

good service, bad food 4/23/2007

we went to vespa for a special occasion on a sat. night, made reservations and when we got there they were arguing on where to seat us (party of 6) even though only 2 other people were in the restaurant??? menu looked good, although when we got our food, sides were cold, no flavor what so ever, my entree was a chicken dish 3 small pieces of dark meat chewy chicken with some kind of flavorless warm sauce. my husband ordered the ""special"" of mixed seafood over fettuccini, there were 2 shrimp 3 clams etc. very sparse on the seafood. i'm not into huge portions but i have to say that the portions here were small especially for what we paid, i thought the food wasnt great and the prices were high. i'm not into chain restaurants but i have to be honest i've had better meals at biaggis. we wont be going back. more

Romantic, great service, great food 12/10/2006

We are regulars there. There is a reason and it is value, quality, service, all excellent. Oh and the meals are top-notch gourmet. Pros: Food, service, ambiance Cons: don't go here expecting Carrabba's more

Service, service, service 9/19/2005

Those who eschew chain restaurants know that there is a level of service only restaurant owners will provide.....this is the type of service offered by Vespa. Our party included four adults and a toddler, and the staff could not have been more accommodating. The food was also marvelous....we enjoyed warm flatbread, homemade polenta with wild mushrooms, a special veal dish that was not on the menu but was requested by one of our party, and a fabulous wild berry sorbet. Pros: Great service, Creative dishes, Warm ambience more

Consistenly excellent 4/19/2004

My husband and I adore Vespa. The food is consistently excellent, way above average. We have sampled many of the Italian restaurants in the Triangle and have been quite disappointed. However, Vespa really stands out as a very fine restaurant and is on par with Nina's (another favorite Italian restaurant of ours). The chef will prepare a dish for you that is not on the menu. The wait staff is charming and very attentive. The decor is lovely - wonderful ambience. Pros: Delicious food, Great Ambience, Perfect service more

Best Food in the Raleigh Area 11/20/2003

I love to try new ""high-class"" restaurants because the food is always good; however, service in any restaurant is always found wonting. But, not at Vespa. It's a small ""high-class"" restaurant that has everything. My wife and I went there for the first time and enjoyed every part of our experience. The food is to die for, and service is excellent. We are new parents and this was our first night without child, and what a treat it was. Our server knew it was a special night and even brought us champaigne--""on the house."" You eat great food and receive impeccable service. The perfect spot for a night out. Pros: Worth the Money, Quiet, Romantic more

Had a great time! 3/6/2003

We went to Vespa on V-day as well, and had a wonderful experience. It was extremely busy, but we were seated almost immediately. The food was exellent and the portions were large, except the chicken, which I ordered b/c had been told it would be light. Our entrees took a while to come out, but our water gave us both a glass of champagne to make up for the wait. Very nice/eclectic menu. If you're looking for spaghetti and meatballs though, this isn't the place for you. Pros: great food, attentive staff more

Nice, not great 1/29/2003

Me & the wife like it but the service is kinda snooty and they seem to think a lot of themselves but I would still recommend Pros: nice, romantic Cons: food okay, snooty more

Wouldn't go again!!!!!!!! 1/1/2003

My boyfriend and I went for New Year's Eve. I have to admit that the food was wonderful, but the service and atmosphere left alot to be desired. Lights were a bit too bright and the tables a little close together. He made an extra early reservation (6:00), so we could have a nice relaxing dinner. An hour and a half later we were asked to get up from our table and sit at the bar so that someone else could be seated (by our waiter, no less). Needless to say, we left. Would have expected a little more..... Pros: good food Cons: service, lighting too bright, tables too close toge more

what a refreshing evening 9/29/2002

excellent attentive service, good food, seating outside on a perfect night is very nice. we'd been regulars and had stopped going dude to price and quality of service. Tried it on a whim and it was EXCELLENT. perhaps new owner ? whatever the reason it was a really nice romantic dinner. Pros: not crowded, service exceptional, great food more
