Worst	SCAM ARTIST!!!! This is by far the worst vet in town!!! Dr. Mcgrath is the worst, unprofessional, rude and a liar. I went there to treat my cat and was lied to the whole time, and the bill kept...

Should be renamed VCA BUTCHER SHOP and or PET RIP OFF CENTER, all I have to say is any positive reviews posted here are paid for or anyone thinking this place is reputable must have money to throw away. REDICULOUSLY OVER PRICED and unless you ask details for every procedure and every item you will surely be relieved of you hard earned cash. I took my dog in for a simple checkup and went along with some of the recommedations as the vet seems nice enough, Dr Leiblick was her name, What I got was needless blood test and X-rays and came away with a $900 bill for an exam..She didn't even inform me what the costs were going to be. BEWARE this place is a money making machine without regard for your pet. I was even advised to keep my pet in overnight for observation, which was another $1800 and even advised that we should consider surgery for $8,000 to confirm a possible blockage in the intestines, when I saw the X-ray it was completely clear, they don't know what they are talking about or worse yet they justy want to chop up my dog for some extra $$$$, I work as a X-ray tech so after seeing a clear intestines, I asked to pack up and get out, but not before racking up a hefty $900 bill for a dog with an upset stomach, he was just fine within a few hours of getting home. Our vet diagnosed Wobblers and referred us to this hospital for surgery and I admit, I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews. However, from the second we arrived to the second we took our dog home, our experience was a good one. \r \r The staff was friendly and plentiful - you can't walk 3 feet without running into someone who works there. The neurologist we saw (Dr. Carerra) was AMAZING and explained everything to us using terminology we understood. She was not only familiar with the surgery itself but with the breed and I felt comfortable leaving her in her hands. They promised phone calls to follow up and they came as promised. When we had questions, they took their time to answer them. I never felt rushed or like I was bothering anyone. We never waited more than 10 minutes to see someone either. \r \r I will agree that this place isn't cheap. I think a lot of the negative reviews are due to this but I can't in good conscience rate it based on that alone. The place is immaculate, it's huge, the doctors are experienced and it's got state of the art equipment - you really can't ask for more. I believe you pay for what you get and I feel that while they do charge more than other places, it's worth every penny. \r \r My dog is home now and has starting to slowly walk again. I won't return to this office for regular visits (I avoid LA like the plague) but I am very, very thankful they were there for us when we needed them. I can't recommend them enough. more

My best friend in the world, my dog, trusted me, I in turn trusted VCA Animal Hospital. My regular vet had recommended them as they had a neurologist on staff that could perhaps discover the cause of my golden retrievers paralyized rear legs. I was given a tour, told of the 24hr Emergency hospital capabilities and lead to believe my boy was in good hands. $5,000 later the Dr could only tell me what he didnt have, not what he had. A couple nights later I saw that my boy was breathing shallow and his gums pale. I called the Emergency line at VCA and the Dr that was working that night answered. I explained his symptoms, told her he was a patient there. She said to bring him in right away. I told her I would be there in 15-20 mins and that he weighed about 75lbs and was too heavy for me to carry up to the 2nd floor Emergency room. She told me that she would have two orderlies waiting with a gurney in the parking lot when we got there. While enroute I called again, a woman in charg more

I?ve been meaning to post something about these veterinarians but I hadn?t gotten around to it. Before the summer started I came in with my dog. They did the health check, gave her antibiotics, and told me to come back if she didn?t improve. I didn?t have to make another visit but I wanted to say that I appreciate that there was no big fuss while we were there. I mean that in terms of the staff not being reluctant to answer questions or rudely trying to placate me. They did fuss over my dog, as they should have. more

I?m from the Valley and all of my neighbors take their pets to VSV when there?s an emergency. I had to do the same recently. I was really scared but the vet that saw my dog helped her, and also calmed me down. I?m never going to forget it. more

They are open 24 hours a day and are near my house. This is where I take my animals. They do their job and on top of that manage to be friendly and serviceable. When my pals call me asking about a pet hospital, I point them here. No doubt about it. more

I have been a customer of Veterinary Specialists of the Valley for several years and I recommend this place to all my friends and family. About a month ago, I had to rush my cat to the vet for emergency care and was blown away by their response time and emergency services. My cat received the care and stitches he needed and we were back home in no time. I love the staff and the doctors. more

don't go there.....drive wherever you have to for your pet but don't go there. there is another ER for animals on Ventura Blvd near Taft High School which is much better. \r \r Read the review about the person who tried to complain ....they want your money but they are not going to listen to you. Blamers.\r \r I pulled my animal out there in 24 hours to get it to my regular vet. After an hour of being out of this VSof the valley my pet was alert and eating.....I saved my pet by removing it from this clinic. more

What I love most about Veterinary Specialists of the Valley is the staff. Everyone, from the front desk receptionist to the surgeons, is extremely friendly and professional. You can tell that they love what they do and it shows in their work and the level of care that they provide. The place is conveniently located near my home and open all hours of the day, seven days a week. With such a great staff and a facility that is open around the clock, I have the peace of mind that my dog (and cats) can receive the care they need when they need it. more

Thank goodness for Veterinary Specialists of the Valley. My adorable border collie needed medical attention and I took her in on a late Sunday night not expecting the place to be open. To my surprise, the clinic was not only open, but they were eager to take in my dog and give her the care she needed. Thankfully it wasn?t a major issue, and Marley was up and running again after 24 hours. more

Clean hospital, knowledgeable doctors, friendly staff, and overall excellent patient care!\r \r I woke up one morning, only to find that my best buddy (my 13-year-old Bichon Frise) was squinting one of his eyes and that the area around his eye looked a bit reddened. I brought him in to Veterinary Specialists of the Valley where he was seen by Dr. Juli White, who was was very kind, soft-spoken, professional, and definitely gave my dog and I the attention we needed!\r \r She examined my dog and explained to me what she suspected might be causing the irritation. After having the emergency vet techs (who were also all really friendly and very gentle with my old guy) perform a few tests to verify that it was what Dr. White had suspected, she explained to me what was going on and sent me home with some medication to help treat his eye. I had brought my pet in there a few weeks ago because she was vomiting over and over again when she woke up in the morning. She seemed pretty dehydrated, so I brought her in and Dr. Bianco and Dr. Luce were able to evaluate her and do an ultrasound to determine if she had eaten something she shouldn't. She seemed fine, but they recommended hospitalizing her so that she could become re hydrated on fluids. During her stay, however, she continued to vomit, and she started to have very odd moments where she seemed weak and was not able to stand on her own anymore, which was not like her at all. When Dr. Fenty came in, she told me she believed my dog had developed a diseased called Myasthenia Gravis, which I had never heard of before! After almost two weeks of hospitalization, and different medications to help treat her, my Dawn is now home, happy and playing, eating and jumping like nothing ever happened. I'm forever grateful to Dr. Bianco, Dr. Luce and Dr. Fenty for their tireless efforts more

I had a cat with cancer & we saw mainly a specialist at this clinic but also several general practice vets & technicians over the course of several months. What struck me most was their profound indifference towards my pet's care & towards my goals & abilities to deal with the problem. At times the treatment was aggressive and at others, utterly careless. Only once out of numerous visits did they provide a written fee estimate for the treatment plan. All other estimates were verbal & consistently 25-50% below the final bill. A few times when I questioned the bill the specialist admitted I was overcharged & agreed to credit my account, for which I was grateful, but to repeatedly overcharge clients is sloppy & arrogant. I was always aware that for them this was strictly a financial transaction & that I needed to question everything including the treatments. Several drugs were prescribed with little disclosure about side affects some of which actually hurt my pet & one that was "way off label" that the manufacturer published a warning that it could be deadly if used on cats. more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! My wife took in a stray cat that showed up at our house that we were feeding. The cat was losing its hair and scratching terribly. They took blood and urine and gave the cat a cortisone shot and then charged her FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. At no time did they inform her of what the charges were up front. And then on top of that I got a bill for $197 dollars for lab tests a week later. So that's SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS for a checkup and shot for a stray cat. I don't even spend that kind of money on myself for medical care. When I called the billing office to question the bill, the billing lady very curtly informed that it was my wife's responsibility to ask what the charges were beforehand. Really? Is that how you operate an ethical business? Never before, in all my years as an animal owner would we have dreamed that any vet would charge these kinds of outrageous fees.
