Please ignore the highly antagonistic review about prices and food (is this a competitor?)..I love this restaurant. I live in the West Village, and whenever I go, they treat my guests like family. This is one of the few restaurants left that evoke the relaxed, cozy intimacy of our neighborhood. It has been run for almost 10 years by the owner, who often remembers your name. In the winter the great windows, warm candlelight and delicious pasta define romance. In the summer, it's wonderful to sit outside and watch the people go by (even with a puppy). We keep losing special gems like Valdino West to greedy landlords and pretentious phonies (check out SOHO Club lately) who need loud music, a meat market and the belief they are at the hottest place around. Let's hope VW survives and thrives long after these folks leave.
Pros: authentic Italian food, romantic, cozy, undiscovered feel
Cons: if you want the Meat Packing District, go there.
