Despite claiming to have 12 years of experience, the representative of Valdez Relocation that came to my home to do an estimate ended up being off by 30% in the end. Since it was a non-binding estimate there was nothing I could do. They offered no explanation or apology, and stopped returning my calls and emails once they had their money.
I made the mistake of assuming that someone who told me they'd been doing this for 12 years would be closer than 30% off. Dishonest or just incompetent? I'll never know - and I'll never get that money back.
