Best

When I need to go to a VCA , I know that my animals will get the best possible care from loving professionals. They are affordable and caring and there are many to choose from.

Worst

Vet in Quincy 10/13/2009

My best friend takes her dog to this vet all the time. They are pleasant and really good with animals, they have reasonable prices and good office hours,\r They will try to assist you with a sick pet at home and not make you bring it in that day. more

Dr Procious is very good 5/28/2008

Dr. Procious is very good. She is caring, complete and very good at explaining confusing medical conditions. She has always made me feel very comfortable and been kind to my animals. I highly recommend her! more

Beware of being overcharged 2/9/2008

Went there for routine shots. Once it was time to pay, they added on charges for cleaning my cats ears and lab work (that I don't even think they performed) and vitamins that my cat didn't need. I have heard similar things from other pet owners who have visited the VCA, and they are known to try and give your pets additional unnecessary 'care' to increase their fee - similar to a scumbag dentist who will do additional work to your teeth that is not needed.\r \r It was a bad experience and mistake going here. The staff had a dishonest feel about them and I wouldn't trust them again w/ my cat. more

In response to "Could Care Less" 2/2/2008

Barbara I am sorry that you had a bad experience with someone on the phone in response to your attempts to save the sparrow- unfortunately Massachusetts state law does not allow every veterinarian to treat wildlife- you legally have to have been granted a special license to do so- that may have been why you were told we dont "see wildlife". what we CAN legally do however- and usually will do- is take the animal in and then transport it ourselves on our own free time to the New England Wildlife Rehab center in Weymouth- where the animal can legally recieve the care and attention that it needs. (just 2 days ago an injured wild rabbit was brought in and transported over by an employee) Barbara it is unfortunate that you had this experience but I can say that is not true for the majority of our staff and in general we certainly do everything we can to help both wildlife and domestic animals. Our staff is here because we all love animals- we wouldnt be working here if that wasnt the tr more

Could Care Less About Wild animals 1/10/2008

Driving to work today, I saw a little sparrow frantically flapping its wings in the middle of the road, obviously injured. I pulled over and waved my hands in front of car about to run over it. Then I scooped it up and drove with it to the nearest vet, which happened to be this one. It was 8:15, and they did not open until nine, so I left it in pile of leaves and decided to call thm when I got to work. Well, I just called them, and they informed me that they did not take care of wild animals, and that in any case it was not still there (this without bothering to go outside and check). For all I know it was still there, suffering and they could care less. I don't know, I kind of though that people who were trained to care for animals might have some compassion for one of God's creatures, even though it is an orphan without an owner to pay its vet bills, or to at least get it to an organization willing to care for it. I won't ever use this vet. more

Good experiences 11/27/2005

I've taken my three cats to the VCA for their annual checkups as well as for visits when they've been ill or injured and I've always been happy with the care received. The doctors are always gentle and compassionate. more

Emergency Vet 11/14/2005

The South Shore VCA is one of the worst veternarians I saw when I was trying to get my sick cat treated. Not only did they show no compassion for the animals that they were dealing with, but they didnt explain what was happening to my cat or what my options were. I left their facility feeling like I was taken advantage of and that the staff there were all jerks. I would never bring my cat back there even if it were a medical emergency. There are better animal hospitals in the area that are much kinder to both you and your pets. PROS: Close to south shore suburbs CONS: Lack of customer service, seem to dislike animals more
