VCA is the ONLY animal hospital that I know of who calls you the next day to check up on your pet. The staff is so knowledgeable and welcoming. The most surprising is the animals ...

Worst

We are the owners of three dogs...and that can be expensive. We have a special needs bull terrier who was diagnosed as being incontinent by Dr. Jen at the Bolingbrook facility. ...

Horrendous 10/31/2014

I would rate them negative stars if possible. DO NOT bring your beloved pets to these cold heartless trolls. That they even claim to 'set new standards for quality and kindness' is ridiculous!!!!! How do you explain killing a 7 month old puppy! It's apparently too much to ask for you to TREAT a dog having a seizure rather than just put it to sleep?? You don't deserve to work with animals! more

Horrific 8/26/2013

It should've never have happened the way it did...and the reason I am writing this is to ensure no one else will have to feel the guilt and regret that I have been feeling every day, since the evening of May 5th.\r \r The day was perfect, we drove him out to the beach, to walk in the sand and water he so very much enjoyed in our years out in Washington. Schroeder began physically pulling away as he grew more sick in those last couple weeks, so being able to hold him in our laps, close to our hearts, on the drive and let him feel the wind against his fur one more time, meant so much.\r \r We thought putting him to sleep in our home would be most comfortable, like most dogs, he was so nervous going to the vets, so we had Dr. Nelson come to our home. Pulling out the electric razor was the first mistake. Anyone who has ever spent time with dogs, knows that an object that makes an odd noise and vibrates, can be enough to terrify any dog. \r \r Shaving him, missing the vein and not bringing sedati more

VCA is WONDERFUL!!!!! 9/1/2011

VCA is the ONLY animal hospital that I know of who calls you the next day to check up on your pet. The staff is so knowledgeable and welcoming. The most surprising is the animals that are in the hospital for an outpatient surgery are not in cages! They are laying on a comfy mat/bed in the receptionist area! The veterinarians are always concern for your pet by explaining every option that is available. VCA has known my two dogs since the breeder (also a member) brought them in for their first check up. Every time I call, the receptionist will ask about the well being of my dogs by referring to them by their names. I am very pleased with this animal hospital. more

I have moved on, this place has become unbearable. 6/19/2011

I worked for this VCA for way to long. I agree with the reviews, expensive and outdated. When Dr. DeWeese left I lost the one vet I used for my dogs. She is working at Merrick Animal Hospital in Brookfield now. Where she gets the respect and salary she deserves. I groomed CATS and Dogs or VCA Bolingbrook for the last 6 + years. But I have moved on, I now work at BARK AVE. in Aurora. Where I am appreciated, valued and respected. As for VCA the change in management has made respect appreciation and value for employees and clients a thing of the past. more

BEWARE OF THIS CLINIC....READ MY STORY 8/16/2010

I volunteerd at their animal shelter and my daughter worked there as a vet tech. We are both animal lovers. We have 4 dogs and 4 cats. At one point, we only had the chihuahuas, as we got the cats (because while working & volunteering there we fell in love with cats as well) one of our cats clawed one of my chihuahuas eye, we took him to VCA, where else since we were working & volunteering there, the vet said that my chihuahua would have to have his eye REMOVED, and asap as the bacteria was coursing through his body so this surgury would have to be done soon, oh, at around $1500,not including antiobiotics and 1 minute exam, but then they recommended another vet (they probably get a cut), as an emergency since VCA souldn't do it til 3 more days, that other vet would cost $3000... needless to say I took my beloved chihuahua to my trusted vet in Summit and he examined him, recommeded drops and antiobiotics, told me to bring him back in 2 days, we continued treatment and my chihuahua i more

Go somewhere else! 7/1/2010

Dirty outside, dirty inside. Some very nice staff people, but very incompetent vets. Their prices are no bargain, so go somewhere else if you value your pets health. more

Rude and disorganized 5/7/2010

Just got a dog , this is the first pet I have ever cared for so did not know much, wanted to get it checked out before I brought it around my kids, I took the dog into the VCA, first off the receptionist was the rudest person I ever met, you would think being around animals all day would make you smile and happy but I guess not, the price I was given at first doubled by the time I left for some reason still don't know why, second time I had to take my dog for a grooming and was told that the first grooming would be free and when I left that changed as well, I was told that I had to pay 48.00 because they only give free grooming to puppies only, I had a Shih Tzu that we did not know the age ,whatever, I put my dog in the car and when I get home I relize my dog has blood all over my car seat, her paw was bleeding like crazy I call the VCA and tell them they must have cut her nails to short and guess what they told me, she must have gotten excited when she got home because that will ra more

Doggie Doctor 4/21/2010

Nice place to bring pets for their check ups and medical care. They have half price vaccinations on Thurs and Friday and offer kenneling. Sometimes you wait a bit longer than you want to but the Dr. is wonderful! more

Overpriced by more than half.... 4/12/2010

My first experience with this place was an emergency when my cat was roughed up by a pit bull. She turned out to be ok, just a fractured bone in her paw. It happened to be the first vet listed when I was frantically looking for somewhere close and open. I had had a bad experience with another VCA in Franklin Park some years back, but every facility is different, and at the time I didn't have many options. \r A year or so later, my cat started eliminating everywhere but her litterbox. I brought her in and paid about $100 for the vet to see her and take a urine sample. Then i had to pay another $2-300 for the tests and found out my cat had crystals. Then i had to put her on prescription diet food, costing roughly $18 for a 4lb bag and put her on some clavamox for a while. Then there was the followup visits, more $$ out of the wallet. \r To make a long story short, I recently needed to take my puppy in for an exam because she was having some trouble eliminating. Just to get in the more

not great 12/14/2009

Look elsewhere for veterinary care. The staff is very disorganized. It used to be a great place, but those days are over. more

I LOVE VCA BOLINGBROOK! SO DO MY PETS 6/8/2009

I have 2 dogs and 2 cats and I would not go ANYWHERE but VCA! They love the vets and are very comfortable with them all!\r \r My family has been bringing our pets there for years!\r \r I HIGHLY recommend VCA and Dr. Dewees! more

Heartless and uncaring - 5/19/2009

On my way to the dog park, I found a starving kitty a few hundred yards from VCA. I walked into VCA holding the crying, weak kitty (since I was a client of VCA) and was completely shocked when the receptionist refused to give me a handful of food or even sell me a can of food for the kitty or even keep the kitty for 10 minutes so I could run into the store and get some food to sustain him immediately until I could get him home. The receptionist just shrugged and said she wouldn't help - and told me to take him to animal control. \r The kitty is now a beautiful, healthy cat - the most affectionate and loving kitty I've ever owned. I spent over $600 with another vet who had a heart for saving an animal's life. I will never spend another dime at VCA and urge anyone with a heart for animals to boycott VCA. more

Surprisingly Pleasant Experience 5/15/2009

I went into this clinic somewhat nervous given all of the negative reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. We have been to three different vets over the course of my springer's life, and found VCA to be quite affordable compared to other areas of the country. Their facilities are somewhat aged, but I found their customer service and medical care to be excellent. We have met two different vets, and were happy with both. We are now taking our dog there for doggie daycare as well. I would definitely recommend them to any friends and family. I only gave 4 stars due to the age of the facility. more

great service and friendly people 1/26/2009

We brought our new puppy to VCA bolingbrook for his initial check up and shots. All of the front staff was very nice and took time to talk to me even when they were very busy. The Vets ( we have seen three now) are all very nice and don't rush you out of the room if you have questions. In fact, my puppy ended up having coccidia and they called me to let me know, had the prescription ready when i got there and let me talk to the vet (no charge). The prices were very reasonable and the facility was clean (but a bit old). We has a great experience and would go back anytime. more

Not very good 8/7/2008

I almost took my cat here, but when I saw the facility, I quickly changed my mind. It is not at all clean. Then I read the reviews, and vowed never to take a pet here. \r \r I make the much longer drive out to VCA Aurora for all my pets' care...it is also a VCA, but the difference is night and day! The facility in Aurora is clean, spacious, with *excellent* vets; the care is fabulous. \r \r I highly recommend not going to VCA Bolingbrook, but don't assume all VCAs are bad - as I said, the hospital in Aurora is fabulous. more

Worst place for pet care! 8/10/2007

I have gone to this vet 2 times in the past year. Once for my pug and once for my cat. When I brought my pug in for a limp in his hind leg, they gave me some pain medication and sent me home and the bill was nearly $200! I gave my pug the pain meds for only 2 days and the limp got better...so I didn't even give him the rest of the medication (they wanted me to give him 8 days worth) I swore I would never go back after the experience I had with my pug, though they were the only open-late option I could find and I had an emergency with my cat. \r My cat had diarrhea and couldn't keep anything down. I took a stool sample over and they had it tested. In the meantime they gave me an antibiotic for parasites. The bottle said ...KEEP REFRIGERATED but it wasn't cold when they gave it to me. The dropper also looked old and used. When the Dr. administered a dose to my cat, it began foaming at the mouth and the Dr. said that this was normal. I thought that was strange. But she says that that happe more

VCA Bolingbrook All About the Money Period 7/29/2007

These people make we want to avoid all Vets! I have had two Springers that have had care here and their prices are double what most vets charge. On every visit I left feeling used and vowed not to come back. Recently after observing my dog straining to pee repeatedly and noticing blood in her urine I brought her in and suggested that she had a bladder infection. I did not have a urine specimen. Dr Sam said it was OK and took her back and I believe got one with a syringe or just did not take one at all. He came back and said she was fine and charged me $70+ for his two minutes.\r 3 Months later she was still peeing blood, I got the urine specimen this time and just brought that. $43 for a urine test, $62 for a Clavamox prescription, and they want me to come back. How About diagnosing correctly when I brought her in and told you what she had? Bad bedside manner, Piss Poor Vets and charge you double. They also screwed my brother on an operation for $2k.These people suck at the vet game an more
