Upright Citizens Brigade Theater 3/30/2006

Upright Citizens Brigade Theater is an improv comedy theater. Most of the shows are very funny and the show is always a little different every night. The improv shows on Sundays are often really fun, as are the other comedy shows during the week. The best part is that all of them are cheap . Usually around ten dollars and under. more

Sketch comedy craziness 8/5/2005

Hilarious and cheap. The shows vary night to night so it's usually not the same bits. Intimate, you can pretty much see the laugh lines on all the people in the audience. Get there sort of early so you can assure yourself a seat. The performers are also approachable and will appreciate your praise, and one day you might see them on TV. more

Incredible Show, Incredible Bargain 8/4/2005

My girlfriend took me to see their show on Thursday night. We were both extremely impressed and were left exhausted from the non-stop laughs. I am pretty sure that they have regular shows, but on Thursday night, they have variations on Improv which are great. We saw two troops - one did a re-enactment of movie scenes related to the theme which was a line from a song we liked. The other was called "The Real Real World" and was a parody of MTV's show, "The Real World". It was incredibly funny. We chose the setting for the cast - Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory - and the cast included George Bush, an 80-year old man, and others. The price was $5 a person with absolutely no cover and drink requirement or anything like that which you are bound to find at most comedy clubs. This is probably a great show on its own and the fact that the tickets are so cheap really makes it the best bang for your buck comedy show that I have seen. Highly, highly recommended more

Funniest Improv in New York 7/19/2005

If you haven't visited UCB yet, you must go now. If you can find another hilarious show in midtown New York for under 10 bucks I'll eat my hat. UCB has multiple shows every night. They range from sketch comedy to long form improv (No, it's not like "Whose line is it anyway?"), It's a cozy theater. It's a good idea to call in advance. Plan on waiting in line about 40 minutes prior to showtime. more
