Editorial review from Citysearch 9/13/2013

The place was very clean and comfortable. However I did not have the same experience as the other two reviewers. Their turnaround is ridiculous. They told me it would take 48 hours to send a simple x-ray to my doctor. After 48 hours, he still hadn't received it. Now I have to wait an entire weekend to get the result. The woman at the front desk was cold and uncaring when I asked if she could get it to him in 24 hours, as if I was asking something totally outrageous. I asked her if I could have confirmation of when the images were sent to my doctor and she said coldly (without looking me in the eye): He'll call you. \r \r I need a diagnosis before I can travel and now I won't have it.\r \r I do NOT recommend them. more

Excellent MRI Experience in Lower Manhattan 3/28/2011

I had an extremely pleasant experience at Union Square Diagnostic Imaging with a recent shoulder MRI. The scheduling was easy, the facility is gorgeous and inviting, the equipment is clearly state of the art, and the staff was pleasant, accommodating and educational. Having an MRI is not a fun thing, but USDI made it as close to a nice experience as possible. I chose them based on my surgeon's recommendation, and I will be happy to recommend them to others in the future. more

Union Square Diagnostic Imaging - New York Radiology Partner 3/25/2011

Unfortunately, I have had to have numerous MRIs and CT scans over the past two years due to a chronic staph infection requiring multiple surgeries. Union Square has been completely competent, completely professional, and utterly amazing in helping this process run as smoothly and as pleasantly (and as effectively) as possible under sometimes difficult circumstances. One of my best friends is a radiologist who regularly remarks on the high quality of the images produced here. All of my doctors have nothing but praise for the reports written by the radiologists here. Even in the midst of trying health situations, I always find complete confidence here. When imminent surgery has necessitated rushing through all of the imaging necessary for it, Union Square has managed the insurance, the imaging, the physician communication, the records organization and delivery, and follow-up activities with remarkable speed and accuracy. They have never made a mistake and have been profoundly supportive during each event. There is not a single staff member who has not treated me more like a friend than a customer, and each one has been reassuring while completing his/her part of the job effectively and pleasantly. The past two years have not been fun ones, but the staff of Union Square Imaging has made every experience with them a good one, both in terms of affect and effect. To a one, from the front office staff to the technicians to the radiologists to the supervisors, each staff member has been understanding and patient when I have been in ""urgent mode,"" calming when I have needed it, and cordial when my health has demanded intense attention. I do not look forward to illness, but, if I must use such medical services, I do look forward to coming to Union Square Diagnostic Imaging. Relatively small items, but worth mentioning include the fact that the facilities are well-maintained, clean, well laid out, and convenient. The staff explains every event each step of the way, turning what could be very anxiety-provoking situations into calming ones. I cannot think of any description less than glowing. Without reservation, I would recommend USDI to anyone needing imaging procedures. They are well worth going out of your way for--and I do, since I live six miles away on the Upper West Side. I thank USDI for being much more than an imaging center and for their help so far. I hope to need it no longer, but know that if I do, this is the only place I will let stick me in one of those tubes! A bright light in periods of need. Thanks. Bill Roney more

BROKEN MRI; DANGEROUS CONSTRUCTION SITE; DISHONEST STAFF 10/27/2010

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Dangerous construction site; Broken MRI; Incompetent, dishonest staff! Union Square Diagnostic Imaging is unfit for business. The site is under construction and very dangerous. The MRI was down this morning, at 7:30 a.m., and more than hour later, patients were still waiting and not being told the equipment was down. The staff lies about first appointment times and over-scheduling. DO NOT GO HERE! It will cost you hours in your day, your sanity and you will not even be treated as the EQUIPMENT IS BROKEN! ZERO STARS! I give one only because zero isn't allowed. more

Good advice 11/30/2009

I have been here quite a few times and always found their advice to be broad and not judgemental or pushy. For Thanks giving, we needed a bottle of wine to bring as a gift. We were giving a range of choices within our price range and the wine was an excellent match with the turkey ;-) Pros: good customer service more

Horrible Experience : Poor Customer Service 2/8/2009

This review is in reference to a wine delivery issue I had this evening. We purchased over $350 worth of wine at the store this afternoon and accurately filled out a delivery request. We were having ten people over for dinner this evening and our wine never arrived, because no one at your store gave the driver our apartment number. I think that this is poor customer service. When we called the store to address the problem, we did not receive an apology but rather were told it was our issue as ""we don't have a doorman"" and we ""didn't answer our cell phone."" As we were busy preparing for our dinner party, we didn't have our cell phone handy. Now, we also have NO WINE FOR OUR PARTY.\r \r We have been loyal customers for many years and are appalled at this experience. We will not be returning to your store and I plan on telling all of my friends about this experience.\r \r \r Pros: Nice Store Cons: Horrible Customer Service more

Great wine selection, some good deals, LOVE the new tasting machines 7/3/2006

I have to agree with some of the reviews that the staff can be a little pretentious and distant, but some of the other staff is quite helpful and nice. The wine selection at this store is fantastic, you can find wine from all over the world, some from smaller wineries, and there are so many different options. The staff picks in the front are also very nice. I like this store b/c I've learned so much about wine just from going to the tastings and from the staff that is helpful and approachable.\r This Saturday I wandered into their new space and I love it. It's much airier and more space between the aisles than their last location. And I love the new wine tasting machines, though I would agree that signs above the bottles saying the varietals, and notes about the wine would be helpful, especially with esoteric Italian labels. But it's so much fun to just walk around and taste. I like this place better than Broadway wines b/c the staff is generally much more helpful and polite and USQ's stock is of much more quality and you'll get more interesting finds. more

Positively Horrible!! Avoid this terrible, rude, over-pretentious shop at all costs! 6/23/2006

This once was a lovely, charming wine store. The regular tasting events brought new customers out and helped many learn more about new wines. You actually got to meet reps. from the winerys and such. It was all so interesting and unique. Then, they moved to a new location and the place has gone to bloody Hell!\r Union Square Wines and Spirits is now like an Old Navy store. It has no charm, nor atmosphere whatsoever. Gone are all positive vibes my favorite wine store once had. \r The fact that the staff is rude and unhelpful is only the beginning! We were trying out their new tasting ""machines"". They are so like an ATM! You slide in your smart card and it ""pees"" you a little taste of wine. There is no information on the wines available beyond the label on the bottle. It is so very impersonal. \r My group of affectionados had been out visting other wine stores that afternoon. We had our other purchases in bags as we came in to browse and taste from their ""machine"". Immediately some little, hairy man came over and started complaining that we had some nerve coming into his store with wines purchased somewhere else! He asked us who we were and why we were in his store! He was being extremely rude and condescending. \r Bothered by all this, I still walked over to take a sample from the ""machine"". When the wine I tried to sample was empty (but the 30-points was still taken from my smart card!) I told the nasty man about it. He gave me a shrugged shoulder and said, "" So, that's not my problem!"". At the point, we all got up, threw our smart cards into the trash and vowed never to return. None of us could immediately believe that someone reffering to themselves as the owner would be so terribly hostile and rude to potential customers! How dare they!! This store rightly deserves to go bankrupt. \r \r Pros: None - Their new location is a waste of good retail space. Cons: It is very impersonal and cold now. The staff is overtly rude and even hostile. more

Pretentious! I was ignored by one of the owners. 11/24/2005

I recently stopped in on a Friday evening and there was a tasting going on. I went upstairs where one of the owners gave a short speech and started pouring wines. When I went to try some wines the owner pretty much ignored me while he was chatting up others and giving free tickets out to future tastings. That's fine, I don't need to spend my money at this place. Too bad for them as I sometimes spend over $200 in a month on wine. On a positive note, one of the sales people on the main floor was pretty helpful. Pros: excellent selection Cons: snobby atmosphere more

overpriced and pretentious 7/27/2003

If you want to be ignored and pay too much, this is your spot! Jump down a few blocks to Warehouse Wines on B'way and skip the nuisance. more

Editorial
  • The selection is ample, but the real draw is their tasting machines, which distribute wine via point card.
