Uncle Sam's Sandwich Bar rude with a side of nasty - Edit review June 23, 2011 Myself and a co-worker just experienced some of the worst service ever at the sams in robinson. The young girls working there never smiled said thank you and were just nasty. Then on top of that the place was packed no where to sit so we had to get our food to go no problem well eat at work but heres the kicker you pay the same price weather you eat there or take out exept if you take out you dont get your fries .????????? So we asked the girl (nasty) read rule 4 behind you Recommend Go to permantis or anywhere but here more

Good Homemade Tasting Subs 4/15/2006

There is an Uncle Sam's Sub along one of the more popular streets in Oakland and, of course, it is always very busy. The sandwiches are different than Subway or Quiznos because they use fresh sliced bread, instead of buns. Also, they usually pile the lunch meat on pretty high and top it off with a large helping of fries. The ingredients are always fresh and usually the food is pretty greasy (as is expected with a large helping of fries.) Most of the subs I've ordered there are amazing and very tasty. The only complaint I have is the bread is not always thick enough and you're left with a lot of lunch meat with a little bit of bread. Overall - very tasty! more

This place is extremely good. I have had a good experience each time I have gone. They have subs from veggie all the way to burger subs. They can put pretty much anything you want on it. If you eat inside they give you free fries with your sub and a mint. The food is cooked right in front of you at the grill. They also make it all in front of you too. The prices are fantastic; I have never paid more than 7 dollars for a sub and a drink. The subs are 10" not the typical 12 but don’t let that stop you from going because you will miss out on a great sub shop. more

Huge subs 10/21/2005

This is one of my favorite places in Oakland. I am excited there is one opening in Robinson too. Very filling! Be very hungry! more

Greasy and good 9/7/2005

This place has the best subs. The bread is fresh and soft, the meat hot and fresh and it is just all around good. They have great french fries however you do not get them if you order food for take out. I suggest that you eat there though to get the full experience. It is a casual atmsophere and generally a college age croud! more

Uncle Sam's Subs--Better than Subway or Quinzno's 8/10/2005

Although they're not that exciting, if you want a good sandwich in Oakland or Squirrel Hill, I definitely recommend Uncle Sam's Subs. They are better than Quizno's or Subway or even (GASP) Primanti Bros (in my opinion of course). They have a wide variety of subs that come with fries and a peppermint. As I recall you have to pay for drink refills. They're a little pricey for a sandwich but more reasonable than Quizno's for example. more
