Best

I thoroughly enjoyed this resturant. I ate fried oysters and corn on the cob. Service was great too. Keisha was a great waitress even for a party of 10.

Worst

Well obviously ""staciagrizzle"" (A) has never been anywhere (B) works for Uncle Bubba or has family that does (C) uses drugs heavily. Vacationing at Tybee? Well that says it all....

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/23/2013

Went on Friday night at 7, waited an hour for our food, half of the dinners were ice cold and congealed. Waitress's reaction to our complaints was ""ummmmm"" so we asked for the Manager. The Manager took these meals off the bill, but two people in our party got violently ill from the food at this vomitorium. more

DO NOT WAST YOUR MONEY HERE! \r \r The meals were overpriced. The food was unappetizing and frozen. The service was untrained and inept. \r \r The people rating this restaurant Excellent or Above Average have no clue what good seafood is. Ask any local and you will not hear anything positive about this place. They survive on ripping off the unsuspecting Tourist.\r \r We were expecting a really great experience and being a fan of Paula Deen (Food Channel) we had very high expectations of our dinner. What a complete disappointment. Of all of the fine dinning establishments to eat in Savannah we wasted an evening on this inept, sordid place. I have had better seafood at Captain Ds! Please, don't waste you time or money going to Uncle Bubbas’. There are a lot of places in Savannah to get really wonderful seafood. more

Best Food and Service...HUH? 12/18/2010

Well obviously ""staciagrizzle"" (A) has never been anywhere (B) works for Uncle Bubba or has family that does (C) uses drugs heavily. Vacationing at Tybee? Well that says it all. What a ridiculous review. Uncle Bubba's is just OK AT BEST! And just like every other Restaurant in Savannah they are nothing but tourists traps and price gougers. We are locals and we don't eat in Savannah anymore. If you want great food at reasonable prices head over to Hilton Head. Here is another tip if you want good food go to Lady and Sons (Paula Deens) if you want Great food go to Mrs Wilkes! more

Horrible Food and Worse Service 7/30/2010

This restaurant is a joke. The only reason people go there is because Paula Deens name is involved. Her brother ""Uncle Bubba"" think's he is famous, when in reality he is just riding his sister's coat tail's. The restaurant is run as cheap and inefficient as possible. The menu say's ""fresh"" seafood, but It is all frozen and was probably caught 2 month's ago. It cost's 25.00 for a frozen crab stuffed flounder?????? They do not support local Georgia shrimping industry because it is cheaper to buy frozen shrimp. The kitchen is run by low paid worker's who could care less if you get sick or not. The cooler's are usually broken so the shrimp temp's out around 70 degrees which bacteria thrive in between 41?F and 140?F..... All of the seafood is thawed out in a sink and is not taken care of for hour's after it is completely thawed out. All in all this business cares about on thing MONEY. They don't care if you or your children get sick from eating a contaminated product. I wouldn't even trust feeding this food to my dog. I highly recommend NOT going to this restaurant if you are in the Savannah area. Just remember that just because this place is run by a ""famous chef"" does not mean that you will get a decent meal! more

they do believe in bread 10/31/2009

where ever uncle bubba got his rescipe for gumbo he needs to give it back and his chicken that is advertised as Paula's chicken tast nothing like the chicken at the Lady & Sons Restaurant that i had the night before, I wont be back. Pros: clean Cons: the worst gumbo i have ever tasted, it was thick, dark, ugly more

Dissapointed 10/9/2009

My friends and I were visiting Savannah and were looking forward to eating at Bubba's restaurant. Our waitress was abrubt and seemed inpatient. We ordered baked potatoes and lima beans. Neither one was served with our meal. No refills were offered and our waitress didn't once come to the table to see if we needed anything. To top it off dessert wasn't offered but the bill came promply. To say our group left feeling dissapointed is an understatement. Would I go again NO . Would I recommend them to friends. NO. We left a tip because we realize that it's not only the waitress that profits and personally I feel she was the one at fault. It would be in your best interest to inform your staff that manners and certain procedures should be their unmost priority. Del and Rosina Ward Pros: Lovely atmosphere Cons: Miserable waitress more

Average service and over priced 9/25/2009

If you are the health inclined, Uncle Bubba's is note for you. Additionally, the prices are high and the service is slow. For instance, $1.99 gets you 1/2 an ear of overcooked corn as a side. Corn muffins served with meal were oily. It took a long time for our meal to arrive and server seemed disengaged. Pros: nice atmosphere Cons: High prices, unhealthy food and average service more

Bad Service 6/8/2009

Yesterday (06-07) evening we eagerly detoured on our drive from North Carolina to Florida to stop at Uncle Bubba's. We had previously had a delicious meals at both Lady & Sons and Uncle Bubba's and we looked forward to more of the same on this trip. My wife ordered the shrimp and grits and requested no bacon or peppers. I ordered a combination seafood dish with Lima beans (my favorite) on the side. When we were served I was given black eyed peas with no explanation. I pointed this out and while the peas were initially taken away the server quickly came back and stated that they were out of Lima beans. I accepted the peas. However, my wife's dish was also wrong as she still had peppers (at first glance). She game fully accepted the error and began eating until she noticed that she also still had bacon as part of her dish. As she does not eat pork, this became an issue. She pointed out the error to our server who stated that she had ""forgotten to place the order correctly"" with the cook. She apologized and took the plate so as to place the correct order. The replacement plate took so long that when it arrived we asked to take it to go. As the two errors had tarnished our image of Uncle Bubba's and as our meal had been disrupted I took the opportunity to mention it to our server. I rarely complain (much less write comments) but felt the matter needed attention. She stated she would discuss it with the manager. When she returned she offered us dessert as compensation. I replied that an om mission error such as with the pork and peppers could have caused an allergic reaction to an unsuspecting diner and that their offer for a ""free dessert"" was insufficient response. We declined and paid our bill. By this time was wife (having come from a line of chefs) felt she needed to speak to the manager. When she did so his response was ""Thank You for the feedback""and no more. We are both EXTREMELY disappointed in our dining experience and will not only NOT return, but will share the story as well. Pros: best corn fritters Cons: Staff and waiters more

grilled oysters to die for 10/26/2008

we ate there on a monday for lunch and had no trouble being seated. sat on the rear deck which was very nice, we got menu's and gave our drink order right away then thing's slowed down. maybe our waiter was new ""brandon"" but he did not seem to be able to handle more then one table at a time. watching the outher waitreeses told me it is not an overall problem they worked very quikely and took good care of their tables. other then our waiter it was a good lunch. we had the grilled oysters for app. and if i had not already ordered an entree i could have eaten another dozen or more of them. they are a little pricey but wonderful. i had the oyster po bubba and had the shrimp po bubba both were very good. we will eat here again but not with ""brandon"" as our waiter. Pros: the food was very good Cons: service more

Very Good 3/27/2008

We went for lunch on a Tuesday and had to wait about an hour due to several large tour buses that were there that day. The food was excellent We had the chargrilled oyseters, the crab stew and a combo basket of fried shrimp and oysters., Everything was outstanding. The lunch menu is mainly fried items, so I would have preferred some other more healthy options, and I think the atmosphere has a little to be desired but the food makes up for it. The service was average. Our wait for drinks at our table from the bar bordered on unacceptable. Will definately go back anytime I'm in Savannah. Pros: The food, the food, the food Cons: The atmosphere and ambience, none whatsoever. I felt like I was eating in a dumpy basement. more

run forrest run 3/22/2008

I don't know who Uncle Bubba's pays to write these reviews. These are obviosly employees, if you think I am lying you are very wrong. I am a heavy set guy that loves to eat all foods: seafood, Italian, Jamaican, American. I have visited many different restaurants across the country, Houston's, Ruth Chris, Joes etc. and the food at this restauraunt was plain and simply put... AWFUL. Not to mention the mosquitos out back, they should at least use citranella candles to ward off some of the insects. The only reason this place is still open is because of the name brand he uses, i.e Paula Deen. And let's not even talk about the prices. Even if the food had been better it is way too high for the service and portions you received. I purchased a so called ""monster plate"" and it was not any bigger than a regular plate at Joes Crab Shack. It is really a shame for establishments like this to exist based soley on a name when the food and service is highly in question or doesn't exist. I got my food put it in a to go box and fed the fish outside with it, it dropped all the way to the bottom of the fish pond without being touch. They must not like it either. Cons: everything more

Very satisified. 1/12/2008

My mother-in-law, my son and I visited Savannah last March. We visited Uncle Bubba's Oyster House four times in the six days we were there. more

Best Shrimp & Grits! 6/21/2007

While visiting the Savannah area, we had dinner at Uncle Bubba's one evening. The shrimp & grits were out of this world! The best I have ever had, and, living on the coast of North Carolina, I've tried shrimp & grits at many restaurants, but, Uncle Bubba's is the best! I highly recommend that you visit this restaurant on your next trip to the Savannah area. You may have to wait in line, but, it is worth the wait. They do close at 9:00 PM so you need to arrive by 8:00 PM at the latest. Pros: Atmosphere, location, variety of menu, service and best shrimp & grits! Cons: Probably will have to wait in line for approximately 1 hour. They were out of ""Uncle Bubba"" t- shirts except for size small, which was very disappointing! more

Uncle Bubba delivers.....Great Seafood!!!! 3/24/2007

My husband and I visited Uncle Bubba's while in Savannah, April 9-12th. We ate there on Saturday night, around 5:00, there was hardly any wait. I'm glad we got there when we did because it started getting crowded around 5:30. The food was outstanding. We ordered the chargrilled oysters, they were excellent. My husband doesn't care for oysters, and he even liked them. The corn muffins were to die for......I could have made a meal of those and the coleslaw that came with my entree. My husband had the steak, he said it was one of the best he's ever had. I had the crab stuffed flounder, it was soooooooo good. The serving was so big, I couldn't finish it. We will definitely go back, the next time we are in Savannah. Pros: Great Seafood, Great Service, Best Corn Muffins!!!! Cons: Can't say a bad thing about them more

yummy! 9/1/2006

My husband and I are kind of food snobs, and I went to this restaurant with low expectations. But I was pleasantly surprised. The decor is very basic and downhomey. The variety of menu offerings was good, but not great. They serve yummy cornbread with your meal. We had chargrilled oysters - the best I've ever had. We had bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp and a fried seafood platter for our entrees. Both were delicious. I have no complaints about the service. We went on a Weds evening so it was kind of dead, but it looks like the kind of place that would be really fun on the weekends--nice outside seating area with room for a band. I was pretty impressed and my husband loved it. Pros: good food, scenery/ambience, good service Cons: none that jump out at me more

Fantastic food, service quality needs work 8/2/2006

I had some of the best seafood ever at Uncle Bubbas. The service was not great, but the service at the surrounding tables was exceptional. This suggests that the quality of service needs attention. The service should be consistent no matter who your server is. Pros: Food, beautiful grounds Cons: Inconsistent service more
