Uliana Hair Studio is THE destination for all you girls out there with curly hair. Uliana is the master at styling curly hair. I have had many stylists attempt to cut my curly hair with little or no success. When I finally discovered Uliana I knew there was no other place to go. Not only did the cut complement the shape of my face but she was also able to achieve shine on my curly hair when it was dyed. I would also highly recommend the products that she uses and sells in the studio. more

Uliana's is nestled a converted basement apt. Not the kind of place you would think a great hair salon would be. If you want a warm, inviting atmosphere, to meet the owner herself, and feel like you are at home this place is where it is at. They just added a new hair dresser, named DISA. She is a mind reader, and extraordinarily talented at her game. This unassuming place is relaxing and full of life as well as personalized service with a lot of TLC. Escape from the robotic, streamline, minimalist, outrageously priced world of salon hair care at Uliana's in the East Village. It is a haven and a hair salon that I am now a loyaly guest at. Disa is the icing on the cake. She gives the BEST HAIR CUTS-Period. Pros: Price, personalization and perfect hair! Cons: If you live nowhere near the East Village. I travelled 182 blocks. I have been going to Uliana for hair and color for over ten years, after going to Bruno Dessange and Saks for my hair for twenty years. I get stopped on the street all the time, with people asking where I get my hair cut. New friends are always surprised to find out my age because I look at least ten years younger...and mostly due to my great hair cuts and color. My hair always looks stylish without being too "young" or too trendy, and the color is subtle and beautiful. I recently went to this salon and absolutely loved it! The energy is great, everyone was so pleasant and my hair looks amazing! My stylist really paid attention to what I wanted and my concerns with my thick unruley hair. She also taught me realistic ways to style my hair on my own, knowing I don't have much time to devote to it. I have lived in NYC for 8 years and haven't found a salon that has satisfied me yet, untill Uliana Hair Studio. I cant wait to go back! more

Uliana's is one of my favorite places to go in the city! She does a wonderful job on cuts and color - it's always perfect. She's more than willing to work with you on whatever you'd like done, and I always feel fabulous when I leave. Her studio (Jimi Hendrix's old apartment!) is so cozy - I could hang out there all day! The staff is so friendly and you can hold her puppies while you get your hair done :) I recommend her to every friend that comes to the city - you get hooked immediately! I'll never get my hair done anywhere else!! more

this place was recommended to me - for hair color - as mine was a disaster. Uliana was really great. She transformed my color from a nasty home dye to the richest and shiny-est of chocolatey browns that even Men comment on in admiration! She also cuts hair and has rejuvenated my look. more

I just returned to NYC after 2 years of living in Los Angeles. I have been getting full head blonde highlights for years and loved my stylist in LA. When my roots started to show I had to endure the trauma of finding someone equally as excellent in NY. I was walking on Park Ave and saw a girl with eye catching blonde hair. She told me she goes to Uliana and highly recommends her. I made an app't and was on my way. The salon is cozy and you almost feel like you're hanging out at a friend's apt. Uliana is a true professional with a flair for hair and makeup! She has a natural instinct for color; nothing short of fabulous! I have been a customer for over a year now and I still keep getting compliments on my hair. The quality of her work is always above par done with ease in the comfort of her salon. It's a cozy nook tucked away below the hustle-bustle of the trendy streets of the East Village! And her staff is friendly and quick to make you comfortable. Uliana feels like a (talented) friend primping and pampering your hair while you relax and catch up! Getting my hair done is positive and pleasant experience. And if that's not enough to get you racing to the phone to book your first appointment; her prices are beyond reasonable... a real deal!
