Absolutely Great Thai 7/27/2010

We took a visiting relative out for dinner. She wanted to try something ""Portland"". I offered a few choices and she mentioned that she liked Thai food. Since we were in the Pearl, I suggested Typhoon. We have been here before, but this was without a doubt our best experience - not that any of the other times were bad. The three of us couldn't decide what to eat, so we thought it would be fun to eat family style. We ordered one extra entree and shared everything. We started with the spicy prawns and spring rolls. I recommend trying both but be careful because the prawns can be very spicy. We then ordered Drunken Noodles, Pineapple Curry, Crab Pad Thai and Spicy Chicken. Save your money on the crab pad thai, it was only okay. The spicy chicken and pineapple curry on the other hand were the best Thai dishes I think I have ever had. I could have eaten the entire curry dish myself. The server was sweet, polite and professional. She knew what we were trying to do and guided us through the menu with ease. I would recommend for everyone to try eating family style and enjoy as many flavors as you can. Besides, it's a fun way to dine and enjoy your company. This is a must see (and taste) for Thai in Portland. Pros: The Service, atmosphere and menu choices Cons: Tough to find parking nearby. more

Typhoon caters! Great for your next special event! 7/23/2010

We wanted to give the people (40+) coming from out-of-state for our July wedding a special, ""best of Portland"" experience, and Catering By Bo (Typhoon's catering branch) rolled out the red carpet for us and left our guests RAVING about the rehearsal dinner FEAST they put on for us. As always, the food was fantastic -- always the best quality, perfectly prepared. Holly was the coordinator we worked with, and she was delightful and made sure everything, from the planning & tasting, to the decor & service that night, was perfect. Our friends and family were thrilled with everything. We could not have been more pleased, and HIGHLY recommend them to everyone! Pros: Fabulous food, great service more

Best of Thai 3/19/2005

Typhoon uncovers the flavors, colors, and taste of Thai Food. My persoanl favorite is drunken noodles. The spices, peppers, chicken, and noodles blend together in perfect harmony. Their green curry is unforgettable, the rich, spicy mixture of curry, chicken, peppers, bamboo, etc, is calling to me right now. The Panang Curry is the best I've had. It's peanutty goodness, is the perfect meal on a warm summer night. Don't forget their spring rolls, tea, and desserts. The service is inconsistent, but I've had succes at the 23rd location. The price is very reasonable, portion sizes are generous, but you have to pay for the rice. Bottomline: Authentic Thai, that will brighten up your day and taste buds Pros: bright, delicous food, reasonably priced, seated quickly Cons: inconsistent service, you pay for rice, no parking more

Awesome! 11/7/2002

Typhoon! has the BEST Crab Pad Thai, not to mention their awesome deserts. Their selection of teas is incredible! It could be the only restaurant in Portland as far as I'm concerned! Pros: incredible food, huge selection, excellent service Cons: expensive, noisy when crowded, lack of parking more
