I called to check on a building and asked for a turnkey price plus asked about any issues that I would have and they stated ""I will only need to get approval from my HOA and nothing else"".\r
\r
I was all ready to get the paperwork started until I saw on the HOA form that I would be responsible for any and all permits for this project so I called Tiff Shed back up and they stated ""they have been doing this for many years and that I would not need any type of permit at all"", the building that I was looking at was a 10x16 so that's 160 square feet!!!\r
\r
I then called the City of San Antonio building permit division at 210.207.1111 and they stated that ""any building, storage shed or any improvement over 120 square feet would need a permit and that if I don't get one I would be fined doubled"" the lady that I spoke with was Rachel.\r
\r
I asked Rachel why a permit would be required if the City of San Antonio website said anything over 200 square feet would not need a permit and she stated ""that was an error and the site had not been update since February of 2012 but she would have it taken care of"".\r
\r
After she explained that the permit would cost an additional $165.00 dollars I did some research on line and found out that this would be considered a home improvement and I would see my house taxes raise as well around $350.00 dollars or more depending on how the appraiser for the City of San Antonio decided to value it.\r
\r
I don't see why these people don't tell you the truth in the beginning plus in the end I would be stuck with these doubled fines and additional home taxes. I guess that I need to do some more thinking and decide if I really need this shed but if I do, I will go elsewhere because I hate it when I am lied to plus I feel sorry for all of those people that don't know about this, I guess they'll be in for a very big surprise from the City of San Antonio along with the Bexar County Tax District.
