Travelers Restaurant

My wife and I over the last four months have made Travelers Restaurant a regular dining out location. The restaurants food and service has always been top notch, with a nice upscale atmosphere, a far cry from most of the local restaurants. I would recommend any of the homemade soups and daily specials. more

Happened across this wonderful place a few weeks back. Great steaks, the crab cakes were excellent, salads perfect and loved the bread. Service superb. Going again tonight. You will not believe this little gem lives in Amherst, VA. Unbelievable! more

This place is a GREAT! Unlike the rest of the "restaurants" in this part of the world ALL the food is fresh. From the real hand cut french fries to the fantastic "calamari" that puts New York's Little Italy to shame, the attention to detail and fine ingredients is obvious. The prices are excellent, the drinks are well made, the atmosphere (smoke free) is enchanting. Sunday Brunch, with white table cloths, a chalk board menu and imaginative offerings is a very welcome change from the "first one to the trough" usual in this part of the world. This place may well be the best kept little secret in central Virginia. more

This is a relatively new restaurant in the town of Amherst, VA. The food here is excellent and the service is top-notch! What a wonderful surprise right on Main Street, at the stoplight. There's only one in town! The restaurant's ambience is second to none. When I dined there, at night, they dimmed the lights and the candles on each table glowed incandescently! Beautiful sight and oh so romantic! The food is wonderful. We had chopped steak and baked potatoes and a salad beforehand. The bread that automatically comes with dinners is garlic scented and warm! Yum! The burgers and sandwiches there are also first rate! The prices are high, but it's worth it. They have a bar and also encourage groups. If you're celebrating a special day, stop here for a delicious meal and a drink. Bottomless glasses! Free refills. Also, their iced teas are a treat. more
