Excellent food, excellent wine list - this is coming from someone who IS Italian. Great Trattoria pricing (ie, this is not a cafeteria, nor is it a fine dining establishment, but ...

Excellent chicken parmesan 7/27/2003

I disagree with the negative reviews. This is a charming restaurant. It's neat walking back to the restroom... you pass by the chef's cooking away (fresh) alongside the path. The CHICKEN PARMESAN was outstanding!!! Wonderful sauce with it and nice size portion. Location is great too... right on the corner of Columbus and Vallejo. Park at the public garage 2 blocks west on Vallejo. more

this place is horrible! don't believe the rave reviews! the fish was tough & cold, the gnocchi was blande and overcooked, & the polenta was mushy and blande! more

pinochio's nose is growing 1/20/2003

While the food at pinochio was apetizing, this restaurant is the antithesis of romantic. It's drafty, stone cold walls and large rooms which lack any element of warmth and intimacy killed what was supposed to be a romantic dinner for two for my husband and I to celebrate our 6th anniversary. If a group outing is what you have in mind, there is ample seating! But for an intimate dinner for two, this is not the place to go to wine and dine and foster romance. more

the aroma,music&atmosphere of Italy 11/21/2002

What a dynamite find! This place has a great big menu with pizza too! Which is the best Ive had since our trip to Italy & Sicily. The staff is mostly Italian or international and very friendly. I sat at the counter and the waiter was speaking Italian to the chef! There was really cool italian and international music on a great speaker system. This cocktail /coffee menu is why I went in. It was outside on one of there tables. My jaw dropped to the floor when I checked out the awesome bar and T.V. area and the beauty of this place. It was ALOT of fun. They made sure I had everything and more!!! This is a great hangout where you'd want to be seen. Casual but elegant, caters to a nice crowd but really reasonable! What a refreshing addition to the North Beach Area. Pros: inexpensive, great food & cocktail, outside views Cons: no parking, crowded more

An Italian's Italian Restaurant 11/5/2002

The location is great, the service is good, the food is great and authentic. This has been an unlucky location for a few places but Pinocchio has managed to sustain itself. It's a great place to spend a Sunday afternoon on the sidewalk watching people go by. Pros: Great location, Great food, Great people watching Cons: No parking, Closes too early more

gotta love no beach! 10/10/2002

I love eating in North Beach. The atmosphere, everything is great. the only downfall is how they almost all "drag you in off the street. Pros: great location, wonderful staff, personalble chef's Cons: drag you off the st! more

Arousing the senses! 8/30/2002

On the busy corner of Columbus and Vallejo my nose detected an aroma so delicious it led me to Pinnochios. I was greeted by a lovely woman who served me a sample of one of their home dishes. It aroused not only my senses but left my tongue aching for more. It would be an injustice to try to describe my culinary experience in 150 words or less, but I'll share this with you fellow Italian food lovers... You will not be disappointed! Oh ladies check out Enzo and his piercing blue eyes, Nicholas Cage has nothing on him! Thank you T.P. for a wonderful dining experience I will be back! Pros: DELICIOUS!, Great location!, Awesome service Cons: Parking is tough more

Unforgettable Italian Experience 8/29/2002

This restaurant has a great, loving, welcoming atmosphere with incredible tasting Italian food like it came straight out of Italy. Start with the delicious Bruschetta and then move onto the Linguni Palermo, a succulent shrimp and bay scallops with olives and capers dish. more

Just the Best! 8/27/2002

I am on a search for the best Italian restaurant myself. I think I just found it and it is this place! Great food, wine, music, bar, outdoor sitting, staff. The only thing that I was surprised was when my husband and I ordered for tee and the old owner just to have this beautiful leather box with tea bags made out of silk; I even wrote down the web site to buy that tee; however now they have marketplace tea bags. Still I am not gonna cry just for that, still a great restaurant. Pros: music, food, good parking Cons: tea bags more

best lunch in North Beach 8/26/2002

I ordered the spinach and ricotta lasagna and it truly is the best I've had anywhere. The tomato sauce was perfectly seasoned. My friend and I split a tiramisu and it was sooooo good! Also, a great value since a well dressed salad came with the entree and sourdough bread, too. It was a sunny day and we were able to have lunch at an outdoor table. Go! You won't be sorry. more

Outdoor pizza and pasta... 8/4/2002

Having a pizza appetizer and early evening pasta special with my mate plus wine and terramisu at this sidewalk eatery was wonderfully romantic. I proposed, he accepted, magnifico! Pros: great locale more

DELISIOUS!!! 8/1/2002

All I have to say is DELISIOUS, the food is out of this world! The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and the staff is great, especially the hostess and bartender. I am a regular and look foward to everytime I get to go to Pinocchios. Try it, I know you'll make it your favorite place to dine too. more

EXCELLENT FOOD!!! GREAT PRICES!!! 6/23/2002

We first discovered this place when looking for a quite bar with nice ambiance to have an after dinner drink in North Beach. The staff was wonderfully pleasant and friendly. During the North Beach Festival, we decided to dine there and the food was DELICOUS and the prices were reasonable. Our waiter however, was not one friendliest but the hostess and the rest of the staff was as always pleasant! We must have just lucked out and got the one bad server as most restaurants have. This place is definitely worth a try! more
