This place is an absolute den of thieves. They try to constantly up sell services and charge much more that your insurance co-pay. As an example, I should have only been charged a $60 co-pay for a root canal treatment. Instead, they lied to me and ended up billing me an additional $575. Liz, the office manager, is an untruthful and unscrupulous individual, as is the entire business model for this money mill. They will recommend procedures that are completely unnecessary, only to line their pockets with your hard earned money.\r Watch out for this group and others of their ilk. This group operates under the auspices of Pacific Dental Services, and they were of no help in this matter. Beware of any office affiliated with this group, as they all have the same unscrupulous business model. When searching for that very hard to find honest dental practice, be sure to ask whether or not that office is related to the san marcos dental group, or the pacific dental services parent company. If they are , cover your billfold and move briskly away from these horrible practices.\r Be an informed consumer and Do Not give the san marcos dental group the opportunity to gouge and pilfer your, or your friends and families bank accounts. more

OK dental work BUT an unscrupulous business ethic. These people straight up lied to me and had me sign an authorization for extra root canal charges to the tune of $675.00 beyond what I should have paid with my insurance coverage. They insisted that signing an authorization form, after the initial prep work was underway, was ""just in case"". Of course, upon check out; the ambush. Duplicitous and underhanded is the mission statement for the San Marcos Dental Group. This is nothing more than a money mill. \r Beware of what you sign and always call your insurance company or get another opinion before you allow these charlatans, or any of their ilk, to rip you off. \r If you have been ripped off, file a grievance with your dental insurance and/or file a complaint, online, with the California State Attorney General’s office. It is worth the effort. This dental office was compelled to pay me back, but only after I filed. \r The honest dental practice is becoming an endangered species. Please be aware of the constant up-selling and recommendation of unneeded services that this company does. My experience with this dental group is one that they tried very hard to sell me on needing a deep cleaning, scaling and root planning. I was also told I needed to have my silver fillings removed in favor of onlays and that I needed a new crown and if it was not done soon I would need a root canal. I went to get a second opinion since this was all new information to me and my previous checkups in another state had gone fine. On my second opinion from a dentist with 35 years experience that my spouse has seen since childhood, but isn't covered by our insurance, my pocket diagnostic was 1 to 2 sizes smaller, so the need for a deep cleaning was not really there and was told that there are no cracks around the silver fillings, so there is no real immediate need to have them replaced and when I do have them replaced, onlays aren't really needed, just a porcelain filling would be fine. Upon inspection of my current crown, he said all was fine and I could probably go another ten years with it and to only look into having it replaced if decay takes place or I experience any pain in that area. The whole family is now going here. I have experienced the worst dental treatment from other dentists for the past few years. They made me so comfortable here. I finally found a place that I am not afraid of. Even the kids loved it. Pros: null Cons: null more

This place is THE WORST!! I was assigned to them by my insurance. It had been 6mos since my last regular cleaning appt with my old dentist (had to change due to insurance change...). 6mos before I went to this place my teeth were in great shape, no issues. After my inital exam and xrays the dentist told me I needed $5K worth of work ($12K w/o insurance). When I told them no way, if I had that kind of money I would be on vacation not getting dental work and that I was going to get a second opinion, they volunteered to get it cleared with insurance. Never heard back from insurance and the dental office called me repeatedly to request that I schedule my work. I had finally get very rude with the poor girl that called and told them I WAS NEVER GOING BACK TO THEM. I have filed a grievance with my insurance company and have also filed a complaint with the BBB. more
